Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean SPB333 Model, Seiko Watchmaking 110th Anniversary Limited Edition

The new Seiko Prospex SPB333 special edition is the second watch to be launched under the proposed Seiko Watchmaking 110th Anniversary series.

To available from the early 2023, the 110th Anniversary commemorate series celebrates the creation of Seiko’s (and Japan’s) first wristwatch in 1913. The flagbearer of this new series is Presage SPB359, designed after the Laurel, the first wristwatch created by the Japanese watchmaking giant.

The second edition is the new Prospex diver’s watch, reference SPB333, from the Save the Ocean collection. The Prospex Seiko Watchmaking 110th Anniversary watch comes with a silvery-white color dial with intricate textures dial inspired by the polar glaciers that shape the landscapes and seascapes of the Arctic and Antarctic.

Made of stainless steel, the case is based on the Seiko 6105-8000 diver’s watch from 1968, whose characteristically curved silhouette and crown positioned at the four o’clock position inspired the designs of many iconic diver’s watches that followed.

The limited edition Seiko Prospex SPB333 diving watch with the distinctive White Birch dial is provided with a five-row steel bracelet with a secure clasp and extender. It is also offered with an additional strap whose polyester material is made entirely of recycled plastic bottles. The stainless steel case and bracelet have a super-hard coating.

The alternate strap features a traditional Japanese braiding technique called Seichu. Its strength and resistance to degradation caused by exposure to sunlight meet the demanding standards of Seiko’s diver’s watches and are also perfect for use under water. Thanks to its unique braiding pattern, the strap has flexibility and air permeability that ensure comfort on the wrist.

The reference SPB333 Prospex Seiko Watchmaking 110th Anniversary watch is equipped with the Caliber 6R35, a tried and tested automatic movement with a power reserve of 70 hours.

The anti-reflective coating on the inner surface of the sapphire crystal ensures high legibility of the dial from every angle. All twelve indexes and hands are generously coated with Lumibrite to maximize legibility in the dark.

The new creation will be available at Seiko Boutiques and select retail stores worldwide from January 2023 as a limited edition of 5,000 pieces.
