In collaboration with Massena LAB, UNIMATIC presents two new limited editions; the UNIMATIC x Massena LAB U4S-BRZ-ML and U4S-BRZ-MLL. Both watches, in a first for UNIMATIC, are cased in bronze.
The release of the U4S-BRZ-ML and U4S-BRZ-MLL follows the sale of the U4S-BRZ-SI, a pièce unique, designed and created by UNIMATIC, artist King Nerd, and Massena LAB.
The watch, which celebrated the story of the Swiss folk hero William Tell, was sold at the Swiss Institute’s “Time for Art” charity auction, in partnership with Phillips and in association with Bacs & Russo, which was held in New York from December 10 to 11.
The design of the U4S-BRZ-ML and U4S-BRZ-MLL takes its inspiration from the tales of the French novelist Jules Verne, such as Journey to the Center of the Earth and especially Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas. These stories, examples of Victorian-era science fiction dating to the nineteenth century, embody the exciting, adventurous, and early days of diving.
The UNIMATIC x Massena LAB U4S-BRZ-ML, a limited edition of 400 pieces, features a matte dial in deep olive, a bronze-tone signature, and rich plots of pale yellow Super-LumiNova for its hour markers.
Its hands, displaying hours; minutes; and seconds, are also luminous. Its bronze case is brushed circularly around its bezel, and diagonally on its lugs for visual interest. On its case back, made from high-quality and light-weight titanium: a detailed engraving of an octopus.
The UNIMATIC x Massena LAB U4S-BRZ-MLL, a limited edition of 99 pieces, is exclusive to Massena LAB and features a tapisserie dial in a deep, burnt peat color; a tone-on-tone “ghost” signature, and pale yellow Super-LumiNova on its hour markers and hands.
The U4S-BRZ-MLL shares the same, bronze case as its companion, the U4S-BRZ-ML. In the case of the U4S-BRZ-MLL, its titanium case back is engraved with an intricate ring of tapisserie, echoing the spirit of its dial.
Housed inside the 40mm bronze case shared by both watches is the automatic, Swiss-made, Sellita caliber SW200-1, with 28,800bph, a power reserve of 38 hours, and 26 jewels. Water resistance is 300m, and both watches feature a crystal of anti-reflective sapphire.
Each watch is delivered with two straps for added versatility: a TPU strap in olive green with a bronze buckle, and a “milkshake” distressed leather strap, also with a bronze buckle. Each example is delivered in a branded UNIMATIC x Massena LAB tough case with a warranty card and unique ID seal.
The U4S-BRZ-ML ($895 USD) is a limited edition of 400 pieces available both from the websites of UNIMATIC and Massena LAB. The U4S-BRZ-MLL ($995 USD) is a limited edition of 99 pieces available exclusively from Massena LAB online store.
