With this special edition Argonautic Coral diving watch, DAVOSA supports the non-governmental organisation Coral Guardian, which is specialised internationally in the preservation and renewal of endangered underwater ecosystems.
Coral Guardian
The team working with biologist and co-founder Martin Colognoli operates on location with local structures to restore corals, and also educates local populations about this important issue. Coral Guardian has been sharing the knowledge and experience it has gained from active marine protection in its training programme, Blue Center, for many years. One of the organisation’s principal aims is to train more people to implement their own local projects around the world.
DAVOSA Argonautic Coral
DAVOSA’s the Argonautic Coral is a professional diving watch with a striking, bright orange or turquoise dial inspired by fluorescent corals. Proceeds from the project go directly to Coral Guardian to support the reforestation of the coral reef on Hatamin Island in Indonesia. Every buyer of an Argonautic Coral receives a tangible receipt of their contribution in the form of a donor certificate in the accompanying booklet.
The Argonautic Coral shares the outstanding features of the Argonautic series, making it a professional instrument underwater and a stylish companion above the water.
The 30ATM water-resistant case with a screw-down crown and helium valve is equipped with an anti-reflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The SuperLumiNova® BGW9 luminescent material makes the hands, numerals and luminous dot on the bezel shine brightly, even in poor visibility.
Another highlight is the unique bezel material that has been specially developed by DAVOSA. The high-performance material BEYOND STEEL® has super-class properties: It is as heavy as gold (with a density of 19.3g/cm³), almost as hard as diamond (9.5 on the Mohs hardness scale) and withstands the highest heat (melting point at 2,950 C°).
Moreover, BEYOND STEEL® is practically indestructible, absolutely resistant to chemical factors and both rust and nickel-free. It has a hardness rating of four times that of titanium and twice that of steel.
In addition to the limited edition number, the screw-down back is adorned with a stylised coral. The Argonautic Coral is accompanied by a TriaLink stainless steel strap with a diving extension.
The watch comes in a beautifully crafted wooden box and has a recommended retail price of 1,158 Euros.
