Swiss watch brand FORMEX presents the new REEF GMT Automatic Chronometer 300M collection.

An evolution of the original REEF diver, the FORMEX REEF GMT blends refined styling with rugged durability. This adventure-ready travel watch displays three different time zones. It still maintains the REEF collection’s robust build quality, patented interchangeable bezel and bracelet systems. The timepiece comes with an exhibition case back to show the beautifully decorated SW330-2 GMT movement.

Its distinctive case shape provides protection for the screw-down winding crown, while also offering a stunning visual symmetry.

Despite now featuring a sapphire display case back and being capable of simultaneously tracking three different time zones, the 42mm case of the new FORMEX REEF GMT Automatic Chronometer 300M still measures just 11.4mm thick, and it also offers an identical water-resistance rating of 300 meters / 1,000 feet.

The new FORMEX REEF GMT features the patented tool-free interchangeable bezel system that first debuted on the REEF diver, and all bezels are interchangeable between the two models. This permits owners to instantly swap out their bezels to customize their watch, or to quickly remove them for easy cleaning. Since the REEF GMT is not explicitly a dive watch, its bezel system has been updated to include a piston ratcheting system that provides it with bidirectional motion.

Additionally, as the bezel itself features a 24-hour scale, it now offers a 48-click design to perfectly correspond with its intended GMT functionality. To ensure maximum durability, the bezels are made from zirconium oxide ceramic or stainless steel with a unique sunburst finish, with engraved 24-hour scales filled with gold and black lacquer or luminous Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 Grade A.

FORMEX REEF GMT owners will also have the option to purchase additional bezels separately from the FORMEX Online Boutique.

The FORMEX REEF GMT marks the introduction of a new Milanese mesh bracelet to the collection, further expanding the strap and bracelet possibilities for REEF owners. Unlike traditional mesh bracelet designs, the FORMEX Milanese bracelet includes the same multi-position adjustable clasp that can be found on the bracelet of the REEF dive watch.

Additionally, since the bracelet itself features a screw-in link construction, the actual length can be adjusted to a specific wrist size, allowing owners to take full-advantage of the clasp’s 10mm fine-adjustment extension system.

In addition to the new Milanese mesh bracelet, the REEF GMT will also be available with the option of either the solid-link bracelet from REEF diver, a rubber strap or three new leather straps that feature a carbon fiber composite folding clasp with a patented fine-adjustment system.

The dials and color-matched date wheels fitted to the REEF GMT collection are created entirely in-house by FORMEX’s own dial manufacture, located in the Jura mountains of Switzerland. Each dial requires a complex process of hand-applying individual layers of color on top of a radial sunray finish in order to achieve the subtle Dégradé (gradient) effect that gently darkens towards the outer edge.

The bold rehaut-style hour markers are triangle shaped and hand-applied to the surface of the dial, clearly pointing towards the broad hour and minute hands for maximum legibility. Additionally, each one of the individually finished indexes features the same detailed finishing that can be found on the hands, consisting of beveled mirror-polished edges with brushed top surfaces.

The FORMEX logo is also hand-applied to the dial. All of the hour markers along with each one of the hands are filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9 Grade A to offer a long-lasting blue glow, even in the darkest of conditions.

The FORMEX REEF GMT is equipped with the Swiss-Made, self-winding Sellita SW330-2 movement. Offerig a power reserve of approximately 56 hours, this automatic calibre is fully decorated, complete with blued screws and a custom-manufactured skeletonized rotor. The Chronometer certified SW330-2 is produced in Sellita’s highest quality grade, and it offers GMT functionality with an independently-adjustable 24-hour hand.

The REEF GMT Automatic Chronometer 300M can be configured on the FORMEX Online Boutique with 6 dial and 6 bezel options, in addition to the choice of either a Milanese mesh bracelet, standard steel link bracelet, or with the option of a NATO strap, a rubber or leather strap fitted with a fine-adjustment buckle.

Prices in the United States start at $1,800.00 and are available for pre-order from the FORMEX Online Boutique and from selected Trusted Partners, with watches scheduled to ship in early August 2022.
