Swiss watch brand FORTIS presents Stratoliner, the first wristwatch specially designed for space travelers. It comes fitted with the brand’s first manufacture calibre which was custom built for space and tested in the Stratosphere.
Stratoliner is a robust and reliable self-winding column wheel chronograph inspired by the space adventures. The new Fortis manufacture calibre, the WERK 17, is a self-winding chronograph movement with a column wheel for enhanced reliability.
The custom designed traversing bridge offers ultimate, space-proof robustness. It has been regulated to the Fortis performance requirements resulting in the highest accuracy for every environment. Furthermore, the new Stratoliner movement offers a power reserve of 60hrs.
The Caliber WERK 17 was tested in collaboration with the Swedish Space Corporation. The test consisted of a number of movements fixed on a gondola driven by a stratospheric balloon. Launched at the Esrange Space Center, the test-batch took off into the Stratosphere. After a flight time of 1.5 hours under the harsh cosmic conditions, the movements came back down and landed.

The Stratoliner Collection consists of three stainless steel versions with a 41mm case diameter: White Dust, Cool Gray and Cosmic Gray. The brand is also offering a special Blue Japan version of this watch.

Inspired by the depth and vastness of the space, the Dust DialTM of the new Stratoliner watch combines functionality with design.

Details in Superluminova ® X1 and the double sided Space-AR Coating on the sapphire ensure highest readability even in the harsh conditions of the Stratosphere and the outer space.

The caseback impresses with smoked sapphire featuring the Fortis spaceship window, granting a glimpse to the column wheel. The engraved quote “Der Himmel ist nicht das Ende der Welt”, which means Sky is no limit.
The Fortis Stratoliner watch is available on Block bracelet with slide clasp or on Aviator Strap.
