ARTISANS DE GENEVE is an independent Swiss horological workshop that offers a service of personalization of timepieces at the request of customers.
With the Rusty Project, the client wanted to travel his Daytona® back in time to make it completely unique. To do this, ARTISANS DE GENEVE developed an oxidized patina method — a technique to control the aging of the counters and reach the exact tint the client wanted for his dial.
After being applied with a specific treatment, the dial was sent to the Azores, an island with one of the highest rates of humidity. The piece was carefully monitored during 10 weeks to develop this unique brown patina.
The oxidized dial is complemented by counters in amber, the hands are delicately polished and features lume backlight technology with a phosphorescent brown in the dark. The hands are polished and rhodium-plated, thanks to Luminova Backlight technology. The bezel features a brass brown insert to enhance the aged dial.
The case-back is fitted with a sapphire crystal, allowing the owner to admire the self-winding movement featuring a 21K gold oscillating weight. The unique skeletonization of the 4130 caliber reveals the gold gear trains.
