Seiko 5 Sports Brian May Limited Edition, Reference SRPH80K1

Seiko Watch Corporation has announced a second collaboration model between Seiko 5 Sports and Brian May, guitarist of legendary rock band QUEEN. Made of stainless steel, this gold toned automatic wristwatch takes inspiration from Brian’s favorite guitar, the Red Special that was entirely hand-made by Brian May and his father.

The dial of the new Brian May Limited Edition watch (Seiko 5 Sports SRPH80K1) recreates the fine details of the legendary guitar with a pressed pattern reminiscent of the texture of the wood, its glossy finish and gradated coloring. The gold-color for the case was requested by Brian himself, inspired by the newly released ‘Gold Series’ reissues of his solo albums.

The nylon strap with vertical stripes evokes guitar strings. Visible through the exhibition case-back is Caliber 4R36, an automatic mechanical movement with 41 hours power reserve.

The watch displays hour, minute, seconds, day and date. The day-date window features white background with black digits and texts.

The presentation box which accompanies the piece is reminiscent of a guitar case and comes with a replica of the ‘lucky sixpence’ coin which Brian uses instead of a guitar pick.

Seiko Watch Corporation will donate a share of the sales proceeds from this timepiece to The Mercury Phoenix Trust, a charity organization founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and Queen manager Jim Beach, in memory of Freddie Mercury, to help fund the fight against HIV/AIDS worldwide.

The first timepiece from the Seiko 5 Sports X Brian May series was introduced in 2020. Limited to 9,000 pieces, Seiko 5 Sports SRPE83K1 features the same design of the new model, but with a silvered case finishing and a black nylon strap.

The new Seiko 5 Sports Brian May SRPH80K1 watch is a limited edition of 12500 pieces world-wide. Each timepiece features Brian’s signature on the case back alongside “LIMITED EDITION” and the serial number 00001/12500 – 12500/12500.
