Exclusively created for Wako GS Boutique in Ginza, the Grand Seiko SBGM249 Automatic GMT watch features a captivating purple color dial. This model pays tribute to the scenic beauty of the Mount Iwate region and the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Limited to 50 numbered pieces, SBGM249 belongs to the Grand Seiko Elegance Collection. It has a 39.5mm diameter case made of stainless steel. It displays the hour, minute, centre seconds, date at 3 o’clock and an additional time-zone employing an arrow-shaped central hand.
In Japan, purple has been regarded as a noble color since ancient times. The light purple color of the dial is inspired the glorious Paulownia flower (“Kiri no Hana in Japan), a prefectural flower in Iwate prefecture. The dial texture is inspired by the magnificent surface of Mt. Iwate, which is visible from Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi.
Grand Seiko SBGM249 features applied baton hour-markers. The 24-H dial ring is comprised of digits (for even numbers) and triangle markers. The “Edo purple” shade of the GMT hand is also famous as the color of the headband wrapped by Sukeroku, in “Sukeroku Yuen Edo Sakura”, one of the celebrated Kabuki Jūhachiban (“Eighteen Great Plays”).
The Grand Seiko Wako ‘Kiri Flower’ Limited Edition Automatic GMT watch houses the 9S66 caliber. This self-winding movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case-back. It offers a power reserve of 72 hours.
This Wako special edition Grand Seiko watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet. The package also includes an additional brown alligator leather strap.
