ARTISANS DE GENEVE’s latest custom watch project is The Cool Hand Brooklyn Skeleton, a specially crafted unique piece for Shelton Jackson “Spike” Lee, the award-winning American film director, producer and screen writer.
Back in 2017, the independent Geneva atelier made a custom watch for Spike Lee, inspired by NYC and Brooklyn. To commemorate his nomination as Jury President for the 74th Cannes Film Festival, he assigned ARTISANS DE GENEVE for a new project: skeletonizing his Cool Hand Brooklyn.
Spike wanted to keep the foundations and DNA of his first personalization. To honor Brooklyn, where he grew up and the town that made him; the atelier had to include his favorite colors — orange and blue; and achieve a technically adventurous design while keeping a distinctly urban look.
The skeleton dial of this unique piece embodies NYC with its matte blue finish and orange markers. ARTISANS DE GENEVE created a larger 6h counter with the inscription “Br60klyn”. The rose gold movement was skeletonized, sandblasted and beveled by hand. The caliber is enhanced by the openwork rotor with the initials “BKLYN” in rose gold.
