The VARIO 1918 Trench Watch collection is inspired by the wrist-worn timepieces worn by the soldiers during the First World War.
To create the 1918 Trench watch, the Singapore based watch and custom straps brand has selected a case made of 316L stainless steel or brass. Instead of the fragile glass used with the legendary timepieces, Vario equipped these new creations with scratch-resistant and shatter-proof sapphire crystal glass. Double-domed and treated with anti-reflection coating, it provides the excellent view of the dial.
To evoke the style of bygone era, each VARIO Trench watch features an enamel dial with cathedral style hour& minute hands and a small-seconds sub dial at 6 o’ clock. The dial also has large Arabic numeral hour markers. The hands and hour markers are coated with Swiss Super Luminova C3 lume for enhanced dial visibility in the dark.
Water resistant to 100 meters, these watches are fitted with a screw-down crown at 4 o’ clock. Inside each timepiece beats a Miyota 82s5 automatic calibre. This modern and robust Japanese automatic movement with hand-winding and hacking seconds provides a power reserve of 40 hours.
The VARIO 1918 Trench Watch comes with a 37mm stainless steel case or a brass case with 37mm or 40mm diameter. Four dial color variants are available: Black, Cream, Grey and White.
The dials are available with the option of white or orange colored luminescent coating. Each timepiece from this collection is fitted with a crazy horse leather strap with bund pad (80mm/120mm) or single pass (270mm).
VARIO is also offering a 1918 Medic watch. It features a 40mm diameter case made of 316L stainless steel. This timepiece is equipped with a Seiko NH38A automatic movement, which drives hour, minutes and centre seconds hands. Inspired by the field medic watches of the 1920s, this timepiece has a pulsometer scale on the dial.
Both Trench and Medic watches are fitted with solid stainless steel case backs. The brand also offers a personalised engraving service on the case back for an additional fee.
By visiting the Vario online store, customers can pre-order these timepieces. The pre-order price of 1918 Trench Watch is US $ 312 for stainless steel version and US $ 328 for the brass version. The price of the 1918 Medic watch is S$ 312.
