NOMOS Glashütte Metro neomatik 41 Update

During the Watches & Wonders 2021 in Geneva, NOMOS Glashütte released the Metro neomatik 41 Update timepiece.

It is driven by the neomatik caliber DUW 610. Produced in-house, this new self-winding movement has led to the creation of a special date display exclusive to NOMOS Glashütte: Circumscribing the dial, it shows the entire month at a glance. The extraordinarily slender watch features the ring date, with a diameter of 41 millimeters.

Set far out around the minute markers, where it is ideally placed, the Update date display ensures that the entire month is always in view.

NOMOS Glashütte Metro neomatik 41 Update

Youthful, cosmopolitan, modern: the NOMOS Glashütte Metro watch was introduced in 2014, with manual winding. In 2016, the first version to be equipped with the ultra-slender neomatik caliber (DUW 3001) was released.

Metro has always had an elegant bezel similar to Tangente. But where Tangente is angular, this watch has characteristically round features: Metro sits flush on the wrist, its delicately domed sapphire crystal glass slips easily under any shirt cuff. Its wire lugs, the crown with fine diamond knurling (inspired by high-grade watchmaking tools), the perfect dots of the minute markers—these are all distinctive features of this timepiece.

NOMOS Glashütte Metro neomatik 41 Update

Just like Tangente Update which came before it, Metro Update is powered by the in-house neomatik caliber DUW 6101. The incredibly precise automatic movement has a markedly larger diameter than comparable watch calibers, is ultra slender, and luxuriously decorated with, for example, the embossed and gold-plated engraving on the rotor. The quick-set date functions both forward and backward.

The NOMOS Update watches have already received two patents: One for the pioneering date mechanism, the other for the unique date display on the dial, which makes the passage of the entire month visible to the wearer. The watchmaking company’s eleventh calibre and the patents under its name directly result from the immense work conducted by the Glashütte research and development department.
