Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 New Gem-set Versions (references 128158 RBR, 128159 RBR and 128155 RBR)

During the Watches and Wonders 2021 digital event, Rolex unveiled three new gem-set versions of its Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 watch. Made from 18 ct yellow gold, 18 ct white gold and 18 ct Everose gold, each of these new diamond-set watches come with a polished leather strap.

The Oyster case of the Day-Date 36 New Gem-set timepieces is entirely set with 254 brilliant-cut diamonds on the lugs, lug caps and case sides. The bezel is also adorned with 52 brilliant-cut diamonds. The dial, paved with 450 diamonds, is host to index hour markers and Roman numerals VI and IX in enamel; these are coral-coloured on the 18 ct yellow gold model, turquoise on the 18 ct white gold version and burgundy on the watch in 18 ct Everose gold. These elegant appliques match the colour of the alligator leather strap for each of the new watches.

The Rolex Day-Date 36 New Gem-set watch comes with an 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold middle case. The case back, edged with fine fluting, is hermetically screwed down with a special tool.

The Twinlock winding crown, fitted with a double waterproofness system, screws down securely against the case. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire and is fitted with a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock for easy reading of the date. The waterproof Oyster case provides optimum protection for the watch’s movement. The new versions of the Day-Date 36 are equipped with Rolex Calibre 3255.

Straps

The new versions of the Day-Date 36 are fitted on a polished alligator leather strap whose 18 ct gold folding Crownclasp is set with 61 brilliant-cut diamonds. The strap, which is coral on the 18 ct yellow gold model, turquoise on the 18 ct white gold version and burgundy on the third watch in 18 ct Everose gold, matches the colour of the enamel index hour markers and Roman numerals VI and IX on each of the watches’ diamond-paved dials.

Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 New Gem-set watch is covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015.

Movement

Entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex and released in 2015, Calibre 3255 has been fitted on the Day-Date 36mm model since 2019.

This self-winding caliber incorporates the Chronergy escapement patented by Rolex, which combines high energy efficiency with great dependability. Made of nickel-phosphorus, it is also insensitive to magnetic fields. The movement incorporates an optimized blue Parachrom hairspring, manufactured by Rolex in a paramagnetic alloy that makes it up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks.

The blue Parachrom hairspring is equipped with a Rolex overcoil, ensuring the calibre’s regularity in any position. The oscillator is fitted on the Rolex-designed and -patented high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, increasing the movement’s shock resistance. Thanks to its barrel architecture and the escapement’s superior efficiency, the power reserve of calibre 3255 extends to approximately 70 hours.
