Ferro &Co AGL 2.0: Vintage Pilot Styled Watches

Canadian watch brand Ferro &Co has proposed its new watch collection AGL 2.0, with a number of vintage style pilot watch models equipped with Swiss or Japanese movements. For the promotion of this new series, the brand has created an online crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter.

Founded in 2014 in Vancouver, Ferro & Co creates high-quality contemporary wristwatches with vintage inspired aesthetic style.

Inspired by the WW-II era pilot watches, the Ferro &Co AGL 2.0 series offers a quartz chronograph version and three automatic watch models displaying the time and date. The AGL 2.0 chronograph watch is equipped with a Ronda quartz Caliber 5021 made in Switzerland.

For automatic watches, the brand offers three movement options: Miyota 8217 & Miyota 9015 (both are made in Japan) and the Swiss Automatic ETA 2824. Each series is limited to 1945 pieces, to mark the year in which the WW-II was ended.

Each timepiece from the AGL 2.0 collection features the 316L stainless steel brushed finish case and equipped with a precision-machined large onion style push-down crown inspired by the vintage era timepieces. The double domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating offers excellent view of the dial.

Made of finest Italian leather, the straps are equipped with a stainless-steel pin buckle with the F logo. The leather straps include a quick-release feature, which allows quick swapping of the straps anytime you want.

The AGL 2.0 series takes inspiration from the most iconic fighter planes of the Second World War- Super Marine Spitfire, and Mustang P-51. The case size is 42mm for all versions.

The thickness of the case (including crystal) is: 14mm for chronograph model, 14.90mm for the automatic model with Miyota 8217 and 13.30mm for both Miyota 9015 and ETA 2824 based automatic variants.

Regarding the lume material, the brand has opted for LumiNova BGW9 for all these watches. The wired style lugs enhance the vintage appeal of these timepieces.

Powering the AGL 2.0 chronograph version is Ronda Caliber 5021, a Swiss Quartz movement with a very long battery life with 2 sub-dials featuring 1/1 seconds and 30 minute counts. It features a bi-compax dial layout with two counters at 3H and 9H respectively for 30 minutes chronograph counters and running seconds. It has tachymeter scale on the rehaut. This chronograph timepiece also displays the date at 6H. It features an embossed caseback made of stainless steel.

The collection includes three mechanical self-winding watch models. The automatic model with the Miyota caliber 8217 has a 24 Hour sub dial at 9 o’clock position and the date at 3 o’ clock. The versions featuring Miyota 9015 or ETA 2824-2 display the date at 6 o’clock. These movements can be admired through the transparent case back. The oscillating weight of automatic watches takes inspiration from the riveted body of the legendary WW2 planes. The glass back case features a metal propeller decoration.

Every AGL 2.0 watch will be shipped with a free leather travel pouch and a microfiber cloth. Each timepiece is also backed by a 2 Year International Warranty.
