French watch brand YEMA presents a special Superman Maxi Dial limited edition timepiece in collaboration with Worn & Wound. The Superman Maxi LE is a unique and cool new variation on the Superman theme. The YEMA x Worn & Wound Superman Maxi Dial LE is a limited edition of 300 pieces. This military style dive watch offers an aggressive presence on the wrist.
Introduced in 1963, the YEMA Superman featured 300 meters of water resistance and a novel method of locking the bezel in place. Over the years since, many versions of the Superman were created, including the Superman II, which boasted some of the largest dive markers to ever grace a dial, earning it the “maxi” designation. The new version created in partnership with Worn & Wound takes inspiration from the maxi dial version.
In this new timepiece, the dial was modified with a subtle two-tone design, playing a dark gray inner circle off of a black edge. To further preserve symmetry, the date was removed, allowing for all 12 maxi-markers to glow.
Inspired by some military watches produced in the mid to late 20th-century, the new Superman Maxi Dial watch features an edge-to-edge black bezel with lumed 12-hour markers. It also incorporates the YEMA’s signature locking mechanism.
The classic 39mm Superman case in fully brushed steel is topped with a double domed sapphire crystal. Measuring 13mm thick and 48mm lug-to-lug length, this diving watch has a water resistance of 300 meters. The Superman Maxi Dial LE features 19mm lugs, and comes mounted to a brushed 3-link bracelet.
The Superman Maxi Dial LE houses the YEMA 2000 self-winding movement. Designed and developed in-house, the YEMA2000 is the newest generation of YEMA’s proprietary movement. It features 29-jewels, hacking seconds, 42-hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 bph. Additionally, the YEMA 2000 is regulated in four positions and has a daily rate within +/- 10 seconds.
The YEMA x Worn & Wound Superman Maxi Dial watch is available for sale through the Windup Watch Shop as from February 18th for $990, shipping first week of March 2021.
