German watch brand MeisterSinger presents its latest single-hand timepiece, the Urban Day Date “Edition Today”.
The Urban Day Date “Edition Today” has quite an extraordinary way of displaying the current day of the week: In the arch-shaped aperture of the dial at 12 o’clock, instead of the English days of the week from “MONDAY” to “SUNDAY” in white lettering on a grass-green back-ground, this model displays the word for today seven times, i.e., “TODAY”, “HEUTE”, “AU-JOURD’HUI”, “VANDAAG”, “HOY”, “OGGI”, and “HODIAU” in English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, and Esperanto. Each day at midnight, the display moves to the next language and correctly shows a new today.
It reminds us that nothing is as important as today and that the wearer of the watch shouldn’t allow himself to be hurried by the passing of time, but should enjoy experiencing and making good use of the present moment. “Today” in seven languages also makes you think of other countries, of vacations, friends, and colleagues who live in regions that currently seem further away than ever, but where it is also today at the moment.
The Urban Day Date “Edition Today” is fitted with a black dial, a red date window, a green “today” window, is limited to 100 watches, and will be available at selected retailers from October on. It is powered by a Japanese automatic caliber in a 40-mm stainless steel case and features an exhibition back fastened with screws (water-resistant up to 5 bar).
The “Edition Today” comes with a vintage leather strap and costs 1,100 Euros.
