TRIBUS TRI-05 303 Squadron P8331 Limited Edition

On the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 2020, TRIBUS created a limited edition watch. The TRI-05 303 Squadron is a 303-piece limited edition dedicated to the crucial role Polish servicemen played in turning the tide of the Second World War.

Containing metal from Spitfire P8331 of 303 Squadron, one of the Polish Air Force squadrons operating within the Royal Air Force, this watch carries over a century’s worth of Polish aeronautical cues within its design. The watch features a 41mm diameter stainless steel case with brushed and polished finishing. The watch is topped with a domed sapphire crystal glass.

Featuring a classic three-hand layout, the matte black dial of this timepiece incorporates white printed indexes and Arabic numeral hour-markers embedded with Super-LumiNova® Grade X1 GL C1 that emits a white lume. The index track also features five-minute dot-markers finished with Super-LumiNova® Grade X1 GL C3 providing green emission.

Made from black gunmetal, the hour and minute hands feature brushed finishing. These two large sized hands as well as the white seconds hand are filled with Super-LumiNova® Grade X1 GL C3 that radiates a green emission.

The mechanical engine that drives this timepiece is a Sellita SW200 self-winding mechanical movement, which has a power reserve of 38 hours when fully wound.

Secured with 6 screws, the rear side of the watch features red and white Polish Air Force checkerboard ring and the disc of historic metal* from Spitfire P8331. The case-back crystal is engraved with ‘ZA NASZĄ I WASZĄ WOLNOŚĆ – FOR OUR FREEDOM AND YOURS.

Fitted with a polished screw-down crown, the watch offers a water resistance up to 150 meters.

*Note: 2020 marks the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Thousands of Polish airmen played a crucial role in turning the tide of the Battle and the Second World War. However these same men would controversially be brushed from history when their place was denied on the British Victory March of 1946. In conjunction with Laguna’s Spitfire Legacy, a non-profit organisation promoting the bravery of the 18,000 Polish pilots involved, the TRI-05 contains historic metal from 303’s Spitfire P8331 RF-M ‘Sumatra’ – flown by Acting Wing Commander Piotr Łaguna when it was shot down over France on 27 June 1941.
