Militex is a micro watch brand based in Duxford, Great Britain. Established in 2018, the brand aims to offer its customers beautifully classic yet simple timepieces incorporating quality materials with reliable, robust movements.
The first collection from the brand is “Duxford Sprint”, a chronograph watch driven by a popular meca-quartz movement.
The “Duxford Sprint” is a homage watch to the great Sprint Racers of the 1950’s/60’s/70’s who used the abandoned Runways at RAF Duxford, Great Britain after WW2 to chase speed records.
Former RAF Duxford is famous for the fighter squadrons of WW2 that where launched from here into the “Battle of Britain”; it is now the Imperial War museum. Militex brand has been based there in the old “Officers Mess” Business Centre.
The Duxford Sprint features a 42mm diameter stainless steel case that houses a Seiko VK67 hybrid mechanical quartz movement. This chronograph watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal glass on the top and a ceramic tachymeter bezel with luminous numerals.
Crafted from 316L grade stainless steel, both the watch case and the screwed down case-back feature brushed finish. Case thickness is 11.3mm and lug width is 22mm. The watch features two chronograph pushers and a 7mm stainless steel crown with logo. Each Duxford Sprint timepiece has a water resistance of 100 meters.
Duxford Sprint’s dial hosts 6 hands, a date window at 4h and 3 sub dials. It has centre hour & minute hands, centre stop seconds hand, small seconds, 60 minutes chronograph sub-dial and 12 hours chronograph counter. The hour and minutes hands as well as the hour marker indices are treated with luminous coating. The Duxford Sprint watch features a genuine leather strap with stainless steel buckle.
To raise funds for their debut watch collection, Militex launched an online crowd-funding campaign on 04 September on Kickstarter. The Militex “Duxford Sprint” mechanical quartz chronograph is available in three colourways: Neo Black, Old England and Panda. Each of these versions will be limited to an edition of 300 pieces.
The watch is now available from £149 on Kickstarter Super Early Bird for the first 100, in three colourways, then £159 thereafter until campaign ends. Its future retail price will be £249.
