Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale

In the middle of the 20th century, Longines created the Reference 5774 wristwatch for the crews of the French Nay. Today, the Swiss watch brand pays tribute to this legendary military watch with the Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale re-edition.

With its cognac leather strap and golden oplaine dial, the new watch respects the design of its original model, while meeting today’s aesthetic and technical requirements. The shape of the counterweight seconds hands, a rare feature in Longines watches, provides this timepiece a unique aesthetic appeal.

**Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale – Original Model**

The original timepiece created for the French Navy features a 33.50 mm diameter case with a robust case and bezel typical of military models. It houses Longines historical 12.68N movement. The Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale re-edition features a 38.50 mm diameter stainless steel case.

The original timepieces were identified using the letters M. N. for Marine Nationale, engraved on the back of the case. As for the dial, it bore the words “Longines FAB. SUISSE”. These two distinctive features are recreated on the current timepiece, which in order to preserve the face of the original watches, does not offer a date window.

Like the original timepiece, the case-back of the current version is screwed. The new model features a domed sapphire crystal box type glass. The lightly grained golden beige dial features super-LumiNova coated Arabic numeral hour markers and brown super-LumiNova embedded blued-steel hands.
