Harry Winston expands its Ocean Biretrograde family of watches by adding two new white gold models, bedecked in bold black and white. Designed with a striking combination of diamonds, mother-of-pearl and black lacquered detailing, these luxury sport timepieces boast a powerfully dynamic personality.

The Ocean Biretrograde is Harry Winston’s designated collection for luxury sport timepieces. Designed for everyday wear with a resilient automatic movement and water-resistant up to 100 meters, the Ocean Biretrograde also features fascinating complexity. Equipped with two retrograde complications, one displaying the days of the week and another the small seconds, the layout of the Ocean Biretrograde is both bold and unique. These new Ocean Biretrograde Black & White appear in a sophisticated, eye-catching colorway.

In jewelry and watchmaking, black and white are often strategically used to bring drama and energy to design. Sharp contrasts, created by juxtaposing black and white creative elements, work especially well on timepieces with complications. The Ocean Biretrograde Black & White benefits from its striking two-tone look, as both visibility and legibility are greatly enhanced.

Embellished with iridescent mother-of-pearl, radiant white diamonds and shiny black detailing, the dials of both timepieces are a study in contrasts. Both feature a central white mother-of-pearl disc and glossy black lacquered ring on the perimeter of the dial. Thicker at the top, the ring tapers as it reaches the lower half of the dial, making room for the date aperture and biretrograde functions.

The hours and minutes are displayed in a circular excentered counter at 12 o’clock with a slightly recessed mother-of-pearl center. Framed by a halo of brilliant-cut diamonds, the counter is crowned by a signature Harry Winston emerald-cut diamond. The hour indexes, set against a black lacquered or mother-of-pearl track, depending on the model, are crafted in 18K gold and beautifully faceted to reflect light.

In the lower half of the dial, a counter on the right indicates the retrograde days of the week, while the leftmost counter notes the retrograde small seconds. The beauty of the biretrograde display is that the counters’ hands advance in opposite directions. The retrograde seconds hand is in constant motion, moving along its 30-second track before jumping back, counterclockwise, to zero. The hand indicating the days of the week advances every 24 hours and performs its sweeping jump on Sunday at midnight.

Furthering its efficiency and practicality, the Ocean Biretrograde features a date window at 6 o’clock framed with diamonds and housed under a magnifying lens.

The Ocean Biretrograde Black & White case is crafted in 18-karat white gold and set with 57 brilliant-cut diamonds. Measuring 36mm in diameter, the most distinctive feature of the case is the prominent diamond-set structure surrounding the crown – a reference to the arched entrance to Harry Winston’s iconic Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon.

These new Ocean models house a high-end automatic movement capable of powering the different functions for up to 65 hours. Crafted in Switzerland with the industry’s latest technology, the watches feature a balance spring made from silicon to improve stability, performance, accuracy and resistance to magnetic and thermal fluctuations. The movement features refined finishes, including circular Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges, circular graining on the base plate, and an 18-karat white gold rotor.

The diamond-set lugs extend from the case to embrace the stylish black and white rubber straps. To complement the sporty-chic nature of the timepieces, the rubber straps feature a dynamic weave effect in their center – a first for Harry Winston. The black weave has a sleek white rubber border, while the white weave has a black border. The straps are attached to the wrist with an 18-karat white gold ardillon buckle set with 42 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Both models of Ocean Biretrograde Black & White are limited editions of 100 pieces.
