Debuted in 2019 as part of Harry Winston’s high jewelry timepiece offering, Kaleidoscope returns this year in six 18-karat gold Premier models with a Swiss mechanical automatic movement. Bold colors and geometric shapes, accented with diamonds and precious stones; enliven these hypnotizing timepieces inspired by their magical namesake.
Premier Kaleidoscope Automatic 36mm (Dark Blue, Orange, Red and Light Blue Versions)
The Premier Kaleidoscope models explore the delicate and iridescent qualities of mother-of-pearl in an entirely new way, with fresh hues, shapes and patterns. Bursting with rich eye-catching color, the striking dial of the dark blue version plays with blue, pink, turquoise and green tones. What may appear to be precious gemstones are actually carefully crafted nacre sculptures.
To create the dial’s hypnotizing picture, its 18-karat gold base is first layered with white mother-of-pearl. Next, a geometric lace, in the same material, is placed on top. Extremely delicate, this lacy blue appliqué comes from a single piece of nacre and demands the great skill and precision of Harry Winston’s craftsmen.
Alluring pink, turquoise and green cabochons, crafted from thick pieces of mother-of-pearl, emulate the shine of precious gemstones, while the 70 brilliant-cut diamonds add bright light to the dial of this spellbinding creation. Layers of shimmering beaded mother-of-pearl and raised cabochons add volume and depth to the dynamic dial.
A pearly blue alligator leather strap, matching the deep blue details on the dial, completes the composition. The strap is attached to the wrist with an 18-karat rose gold ardillon buckle set with brilliant-cut diamonds.
Three additional colourful variations in orange, red and light blue tones complete the vibrant Premier Kaleidoscope Automatic 36mm series.
Premier Precious Kaleidoscope Automatic 36mm (White gold and Red gold Versions)
While still drawing inspiration from the magical images produced by a kaleidoscope, the two Premier Precious Kaleidoscope timepieces feature their own characteristics and are both limited to 5 pieces.
The white gold version spotlights an intense dark blue appliqué of mother-of-pearl. Semiprecious gemstones, like turquoise and malachite, cut into pear and marquise-shaped cabochons, appear in striking blue and green shades. Blue beaded mother-of-pearl cabochons, 72 electric-blue Paraiba tourmalines, six green marquise-cut emeralds, 12 pear-cut diamonds and a dazzling touch of 40 brilliant-cut diamonds complete the scene.
A rich combination of shapes, colors and textures enliven the dial of the sensational 18K rose gold version. Building upon its yellow nacre backdrop, the dial is set with a dizzying array of intense hues.
Composed of citrine, blue and white mother-of-pearl cabochons, carnelian, six marquise-cut orange spessartites, six pear-cut diamonds, 12 fiery-red marquise-cut rubies, six elongated baguette-cut diamonds, six brilliant-cut green tsavorites, and a flurry of 150 brilliant-cut diamonds, the dial is an extraordinary show of color-play and creativity.
The Kaleidoscope timepieces boldly integrate the shapes and colors at the core of Harry Winston’s brand DNA. Blue, for example, is a signature House color and recalls the legendary Hope Diamond that Mr. Winston famously acquired in 1949. The Premier case and its diamond-set lugs are inspired by the arched entrance to Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon. Further, the 57 brilliant-cut diamonds on the case and precious stones on the 6 different Premier Kaleidoscope dials celebrate Harry Winston’s legacy as “The King of Diamonds.”
The Premier Kaleidoscope models are powered by a high-end Swiss mechanical automatic movement with a flat silicon balance spring and a 72-hour power reserve. The movement, with its 18-karat rose gold skeletonized rotor and refined finishes, can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back.
