In partnership with the Revolution Magazine, Hanhart has created a special edition watch as a tribute to the historic 417 chronograph.
The Hanhart Cal. 42, a column wheel chronograph with manual wind was introduced in the 50s and was an evolution of the Cal. 40 and 41. The design of the Hanhart x Revolution Limited Edition Bronze 417 is based on this iconic model.
The caliber was used in the Hanhart Chronographs 417 and 417 ES (the stainless-steel version), which were originally produced for the Air Force of the German Federal Armed Forces. For this reason, the watch is also called “Bundeswehr chronograph” among connoisseurs. About 500 pieces made of brass and 500 pieces made of stainless steel were produced in the 1950s.
Strictly limited to 150 pieces, the new timepiece created by Hanhart features a watchcase made from CuSn8 bronze which tends to patina quickly. The case back of the watch is made out of stainless steel and the buckle is bronze PVD coated.
The Hanhart x Revolution Limited Edition Bronze 417 model offers the look and feel of the historic watch. At the same time it also incorporates state of the art watchmaking and materials. The strong sapphire glass is domed like the plexiglass in the past. It has an anti-reflective coating on the inside. The watch is water resistant to 10 ATM.
The fluted bezel includes the signature red marking and is rotatable without clicks in both directions like on the historical predecessor. The dial was created with the historic logo of Hanhart instead of the modern one.
Both the numerals and the hands are embedded with Vintage Super-LumiNova®. In addition to the extremely good legibility of the watch the tips of the hands are bent to reduce parallax errors.
The Hanhart x Revolution Limited Edition Bronze 417 is driven by a hand-wound movement: the Sellita SW 510 M BH b. This contemporary mechanical movement recreates the bi-compax lay-out like the old Hanhart Cal. 42.
The case diameter is 42 mm with a lug-to-lug size of 49.5 mm and a lug size of 21 mm. The chronograph has a small second at 9, a 30 minute counter at 3 and a central stop-second.
The crown displays the Hanhart “h” from the historic logo, the caseback has the Revolution and Hanhart logo on it as well as “Hergestellt in Deutschland” which translates to “Manufactured in Germany”. The bund strap manufactured out of calf leather has Alcantara (as well known as Ultrasuede) on the bottom for maximum wearing comfort.
The watch is shipped with a comfortable travel pouch and can be ordered through the Revolution Magazine website.
