Swiss watch brand Longines revisits one of its iconic heritage timepieces with a new black dial version of the Avigation watch type A-7 1935. Proudly demonstrating the brand’s historical ties with the world of aviation, this chronograph is a reinterpretation of the Type A-& model ordered by the U.S. AIR FORCE in 1935.

Longines has been associated with the aeronautical universe and its pioneers since the beginning of the 20th century.

For the Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935 timepiece, the brand takes inspiration from a model ordered by the U.S. AIR FORCE in 1935.

In 2016, Longines introduced the Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935 with a white lacquered dial. This year, the Swiss watch brand welcomes a new variation with a black shifted dial.

Faithful to the original model, the new variation sets itself apart with its black dial shifted 40º to the right. The particular orientation of the dial allowed pilots to read the indices without having to release the plane’s control yoke.

Inspired by the historical model, the new edition features a large crown with an integrated single chronograph pusher to facilitate the handling of the watch in the air – even when wearing gloves. The fluted crown located at 12 o’ clock enables control of the different chronograph functions: power, stop and reset, by simply pressing the single push-piece.

The new Longines Avigation Watch Type A-7 1935 black dial watch has a stainless steel case, which measures 41mm diameter. Topped with an AR coated sapphire crystal, the watch hosts a dial inspired by the historic model. The watch also features a solid stainless steel case-back with engravings.

The matte black dial is adorned with large Arabic numerals, cathedral type hands and a train track chapter ring. To ensure optimum legibility, the Arabic numeral hour markers as well as the cathedral hands (hour & minute) are coated with Super-LumiNova®. The dial also hosts a date display inside the small seconds counter.

The watch comes with a brown leather strap.
