NH (NAOYA HIDA) WATCH Co. is a Tokyo based manufacturer and distributor of premium mechanical watches. On 04th April 2020, NAOYA HIDA & Co. unveiled NH TYPE 1C, a revised edition of their NH TYPE 1B timepiece, which was launched and sold out for 2019.
Compared to the NH TYPE 1B, the following changes have been made.
– The lugs were made 0.5mm thinner on the outside.
– The shape of the small seconds hand at 9 o’clock has been changed.
– It features a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective finish on the inside.
– In the NH TYPE 1B, there was a single step before the crown was pulled to reach the time setting position, but this was eliminated in this new model.
– The NAOYA HIDA & Co. brand logo on the dial has been moved up 0.37mm* (* not reflected in the images featured in this article)
– The material of the leather strap that comes as standard has been changed.
This modern, practical wristwatch with case diameter of 37 mm incorporates the design of vintage watches from the 1930s to the 1950s. The machining of the dial, case and other parts of the NH TYPE 1C watch models has been carried out with high precision micro fabrication machines. Made by Roku-Roku Sangyo Corporation of Japan, the state-of-the art machineries are perfectly suitable for machining difficult materials with a few microns of precision. NH (NAOYA HIDA) WATCH Co. has also utilized this advanced technology for creating complex, three-dimensional shapes like concave bezel and to engrave the brand name on the dial.
Featuring two centre hands – for hour and minute – and displaying a subsidiary dial for seconds at 9h; the NH TYPE 1C watch houses a manual wound mechanical movement. This movement is based on the reliable ETA Valjoux 7750 chronograph caliber but has been converted into a hand-wound movement with a newly developed click mechanism.
Measuring 37mm diameter, the watch case is fitted with a curved sapphire crystal with non-reflective coating.
The material used for constructing the case and the buckle is SUS904L stainless steel, which is known for its high corrosion resistance. This high-grade stainless steel is difficult to process and only a very limited number of brands use this alloy for manufacturing the timepieces.
The NH TYPE 1C watch features a clear and easy to read dial made from German silver. The Breguet Arabic hour markers on the dial are all hand-carved by skilled artisans. Afterwards, synthetic Japanese lacquer (Cashew) is poured over the surface to create a unique finish. The blued steel hands also add a luxurious appearance to this timepiece.
Limited to 20 pieces this year, the NH TYPE 1C watch costs 1,850,000 JPY, excl tax.
