Atoll, a London based micro watch brand announces its first watch model, the Viceroy, which takes its design inspiration from the wristwatches of the 1940s. This robust, well-designed wristwatch features the so called California dial.
This automatic watch is powered by a Miyota 9039 mechanical movement. It has 24 jewels and beats at the rate of 28,800. It provides a power reserve of more than 42 hours when the movement is fully wound.
This simple and elegant dress watch maintains a slim profile that allows the watch to sit neatly beneath the cuff. The 40 mm diameter watch case measures a mere 9.8mm thickness. Its polished stainless steel case is topped with an AR coated sapphire crystal class. The Atoll Viceroy Automatic Watch has an impressive water resistance of 100 meters.
The case features deep grooves between the lugs and excellent crisp knurling on the caseback. The watch case is topped with a fixed bezel in polished stainless steel (for all steel models) or a rose gold bezel (for two tone models) that integrates a unique blend of polished and textured surfaces.
The vintage style California dial features large hour markers, which along with the clutter free background ensure excellent legibility. The 12h marker is in triangular shape. Roman numerals are used for representing 1,2,10 & 11 hour markers and Arabic numerals are used for 4, 5, 7 & 8 hour markers. The 3, 6 and 9 hour markers are represented by rectangular indexes.
This beautiful dial also features the popular Mercedes hand for hour, a tapered hand for minute and a central seconds hand. Both the hands (hour & minute) and hour markers are embedded with Swiss Super-LumiNova that emits a bright and long-lasting green luminescence allowing a clear reading of the time, regardless of the conditions.
Highlighted with a distinctive California dial, this vintage styled yet robust dress watch is available in four distinct styles: All steel or bi-colour versions with black or cream dials.
The black dial version features gold colored indexes and minutes ring that resembles an open rail track. The hour and minute hands are gold-coated, while the sweeping seconds hand is painted gold. The words “ATOLL”, “VICEROY” and “PRECISION” are painted in white.
In the cream dial version, both the indexes and closed railway track styled minutes ring are in black colour. The hour and minute hands are cream with black border, while the sweeping seconds hand is painted gold. The words “ATOLL”, “VICEROY” and “PRECISION” are painted in black.
The watch is fitted with a robust 6mm screw-down crown at 3h. The Atoll Viceroy Automatic Watch maintains a simple stainless steel case back instead of engraved or exhibition case-backs.
The watch is backed by a 2-year international warranty.
The Viceroy Automatic Watch comes fitted with comfortable and luxurious strap made from genuine premium leather. The strap width is 20 mm and fitted with a stainless steel tang buckle that is polished and stamped with the brand name.
The brand launched a Kickstarter online crowd-funding campaign on 17 June 2020 to raise funds for the initial mass production of the Atoll Viceroy collection.
