Specialist in diving watches for over 50 years, Swiss watch brand DELMA expands its impressive portfolio with a new edition to the 70s inspired Cayman collection. First introduced in 2019, the original Cayman pays homage to the brand’s early divers’ watches. This year, DELMA expands this collection by introducing a new model which retains the aesthetic and technical qualities with the addition of world timer functionality.
DELMA launched its first divers’ watch 1969 which laid the foundation for its expertise in the development of marine watches. Divers watches took center stage as DELMA introduced timepieces capable of descending into the depths of the sea. This garnered attention from world-renowned experts and drove development of marine centric watches.
In 2019, 50 years after the launch of its first diving watch, DELMA launched the Cayman collection, equipped with contemporary performance features to celebrate the brand’s earliest dive models. Introduced in 2020, the Cayman Worldtimer retains the vintage style of the collection with the addition of 24-hour hand and reference cities on the bezel representing each time-zone.
The new Cayman Worldtimer celebrates the diversity and beauty of the aquatic world, which makes up over 70 percent of the Earth’s surface. It is dedicated to adventures who seek to discover the wonders of the blue planet above and below the surface from the turquoise waters of the Caribbean to the pristine lakes of Switzerland.
The watch is equipped with a bidirectional riveted bezel marked with the names of 24 reference cities, one for each time zone. The theme of the bezel compliments the polished sunray-brushed dial in nautical black abyss, deep blue and lustrous silver. Luminescent hands and indexes accompany a distinctive triangular 24-hour hand to effortlessly indicate multiple time zones relevant to the wearer.
Faithful to the retro style of the Cayman collection beyond the case design, the Cayman Worldtimer also shares the same vintage style Milanese stainless steel bracelet or leather strap with contrasting stitching.
The new Cayman Worldtimer watch is available in quartz and automatic versions. Equipped with an ETA 2893 self-winding movement, the automatic model reveals its decorated movement and the DELMA personalized rotor through a transparent case back. The quartz version houses a Ronda 515.24H movement and features stainless steel case.
The Cayman Worldtimer watch has a 42mm diameter stainless steel case with a thickness of 13.6 mm in automatic version and 11 mm in quartz version. The watch features a sunray-brushed dial in abyss black, deep blue or lustrous silver shades.
The dial incorporates luminescent hands and indexes for enhancing readability. It also has a date window at 3 o’clock. Front glass is domed sapphire crystal.
The Cayman Worldtimer automatic model is water resistant up to 500 meters and its quartz version is 200 meters water resistant.
