The IRON ANNIE Bauhaus collection builds on the 100-year tradition of the Bauhaus movement founded in 1919 in Dessau.
Bauhaus architecture is considered a milestone of modern architecture, an avant-garde of free and applied art. The reduced and clear Bauhaus design hasn’t lost anything of its fascination to this day. Founded in Weimar in 1919, the Bauhaus in Dessau flourished from 1925 to 1932, before being closed in 1933 by its last director – Mies van der Rohe.
In order to make the ultimate in what is possible with the reduced and thus purist claim of the Bauhaus design, IRON ANNIE developed for the first time a watch with ultra-flat, mechanical movement and manual winding.
The no-frills yet beautiful-looking movement ETA Peseux 7001, which was released in 1972, with its height of just 2.5 mm is one of the emphatically flat hand-wound movements. These are back in fashion and allow the designer to develop watches that carry elegantly, subtly disappearing under the shirt sleeve.
In addition to the display of hours and minutes on the Bauhaus style, a distinguishing feature of this watch is the small second at “6 o’clock”. The new IRON ANNIE Bauhaus manual wind, Ref. 5030, is a watch for the purist, who enjoys taking care of his watch every morning by winding the high-quality movement by hand.
The new IRON ANNIE Bauhaus, small second, manual wind is available in 3 dial variants.
With the design and execution of the unusual, curved dial IRON ANNIE sets the highest quality standards. All dial variants, in silver, anthracite and blue (the latter two with sunburst) are covered with finely drawn Arabic numerals and lend the new IRON ANNIE Bauhaus manual wind, Ref. 5030, its minimalist and at the same time decidedly elegant appearance. The dials get their coloring by a galvanic process before the indices are applied for hours and minutes in two separate steps. The fine luminescent hands add to the high quality appearance.
The caliber ETA Peseux 7001 is fully decorated with Geneva stripes and can be viewed through the glass bottom. The water resistant housing is rated up to 3 atmospheres and consists of high quality stainless steel 316L. The diameter is contemporary 40 mm. The strongly curved cover glass, which is designed in the style of the 1960s, is made of durable K1 safety glass. A high-quality bracelet made of the finest handcrafted leather, underlines the high standards of the IRON ANNIE Bauhaus manual wind.
All watches from IRON ANNIE are manufactured and tested in Germany by experienced master watchmakers and bear the quality seal “Made in Germany”. The IRON ANNIE Bauhaus manual wind, Ref. 5030, is available from 03/2019 at a price of 799 EURO in the watch trade.
