After launching sensational timepieces during the Halloween celebrations in 2017 and 2018, Konstantin Chaykin now presents a new watch highlighting the green color.
Halloween has long been associated with orange and black colours. With this new creation, Konstantin Chaykin rejects stereotypes and blindly following recently established traditions. He insists that the celebration of the eve of the Feast of All Saints is also possible in green.
Introduced in 2017, the Konstantin Chaykin Joker watch made the way for a new collection known as Wristmons. These mechanical timepieces are charismatic, extraordinary, sometimes cute, sometimes scary, but certainly spectacular, creative and rare.
The year 2018 was a breakthrough moment for the Wristmons collection as it received one of the most important prizes in the world of fine watchmaking art. The “Aiguille d’Or – Audacity Prize” of the 18th Grand Prix of Fine Watchmaking in Geneva (GPHG-2018) was won by the Konstantin Chaykin Clown watch, the younger brother of the Joker watch.
It was the first time a Russian watch – and a Russian watchmaker – had taken home the highest award in Geneva, the Swiss and world capital of fine watchmaking. The Make Halloween Green Again 2019 watch is the latest addition to the Wristmons collection.
Compared to the original design of the Pumpkin Head Special Unique Piece Halloween-2017, from which the tradition of Konstantin Chaykin’s special watches for All Saints Day started, the design of the case and the dial of the first “pumpkin” have been renewed to fit the new green mood that Konstantin Chaykin would like to express with this watch. The watch dial is made in the style of a Jack-o’-lantern, which, according to legend, helped to ward off evil spirits.
The guilloche pattern used in the decoration of the dial is much more complicated this time, with a double relief and semitransparent glossy lacquer coating giving a shimmering yellow-green tone from light green to dark. This was applied instead of a background of a uniform sunray pattern and matte orange colour.
The glints and flashes of yellow-green light are literally breathtaking. The moon disc of the smiling moon phase indicator of Chaykin’s “Jokers” have gone green, receiving more texture and volume – these features are perceived by watch connoisseurs around the world as trademarks of the high-end dials of the “Jokers” and other Wristmons by Konstantin Chaykin.
The plate with the logo of the watchmaker, the teeth of the monster in the smiling moon phase indicator and the scales of the triangular eyes of the dials for hours and minutes are given a bronze tone to perfectly match these design elements with the bronze case. The icing on the cake is a black alligator leather strap with green stitching.
The Make Halloween Green Again 2019 watch is equipped with an automatic Caliber K07-0, which is based on a reliable Swiss-made automatic Caliber ETA 2824-2 and equipped with an indication module designed, engineered, assembled and finished in accordance with the highest standards of fine watchmaking at the Konstantin Chaykin manufacture.
With is unconventional watch, Konstantin Chaykin not only reminds us about the problem of plastic garbage, but also follows a more environmentally-friendly path in the manufacturing of the watches. Moreover, there will not be a single gram of plastic in the box for the new Make Halloween Green Again 2019 watches.
