Hamilton has partnered with Schott NYC to create a special edition Khaki Pilot in limited series.
Both Hamilton and Schott NYC were chosen by the U.S. Army for their excellence and reliability and supplied the best watches and jackets to pilots during World War II, becoming symbols of the 1940s military style.
Craftsmanship and reliability is how Hamilton made its name by ensuring accuracy in the early days of the railroads, and it’s how Schott NYC gained their reputation as well as their cult following.
The 46mm case of the new Khaki Pilot Schott NYC houses the H-30 automatic day-date movement with 80 hours of power reserve. The khaki green dial features contrasting light green Super-LumiNova® hands and numerals. With its strong contrast, Super-LumiNova® offers clarity and readability at a glance – even in the dark.
Schott NYC has specially selected each piece of top grain, full aniline, and light weight steer hide-leather to create the band for the 1,892 limited edition pieces. The Federal Standard military color 30099 Earth Brown watch straps are made from the same leather used for the flight jackets during the war and to this day.
The leather band starts life stiff and sturdy and will age naturally to become softer, taking on the shape of the wearer’s wrist. It is exactly how a leather jacket would crease over time to fit its owner’s unique contours.
Each of the 1,892 limited edition pieces – a nod to the year Hamilton was established and Schott NYC’s founder Irving Schott was born – will be presented in a specially created leather case made exclusively by Schott NYC for Hamilton.
The case is sewn by hand using traditional techniques at the Schott NYC factory in Union, New Jersey. The folding case is lined with plaid heavy weight brushed cotton and features side entry pockets and a card holder for travel.
Founded in 1913 in Manhattan’s Lower East Side and now run by the third and fourth generations of the Schott family, Schott NYC produces classic outerwear by hand, out of Union, New Jersey. Irving Schott, who was the first designer to use a zipper in a jacket and supplied the US military with parkas and aviator bomber jackets during World War II. Today the Schott family produces leather, wool, nylon, canvas, and down outerwear, as well as shirts, sweaters and accessories available worldwide.
