Time Locker Dive Watches: TONGA, KOURILES and KERMADEC Models

Time Locker, a young micro-watch brand based in France, has launched an online fundraising campaign in order to support the initial mass production of their diving watch collection.

The brand is planning to launch three different models of diving watches named after three deep-sea trenches named TONGA, KOURILES and KERMADEC.

Located in the south-west Pacific Ocean, the TONGA is the deepest trench of the Southern Hemisphere and the second deepest on the Earth. The Kuril (French name: KOURILES) Trench is located in northwest Pacific Ocean, and the KERMADEC is a linear ocean trench located in the South Pacific Ocean.

Inspired by vintage combat diver watches produced in 1950s, these diving timepieces are meticulously crafted to suit the demands of modern era.

All the three models are made of surgical grade stainless steel and they share the same case dimensions: 42mm diameter and 14mm thickness. Each watch is hand-polished with circular and straight fine brushing. The case sides have straight lines while the top and bottom have circular lines. On the surface of the screwed-down case back, you will find an embossed brand logo and unique serial number of the watch.

Front glass is a double domed and scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating ensuring the clear display of indications. The sapphire crystal glass along with the screw-down crown and screw-back case protects the timepiece from water pressure, humidity and dust. The over sized crown ensures easy operating while wearing gloves. The crown also features an embossed propeller shape to evoke the watch hands’ design.

These diving timepieces are topped with a 120 clicks unidirectional ceramic bezel with Swiss Super-LumiNova C3 markings. With a water resistance up to 200 meters/ 660 ft/20 atm, these timepieces can be classified under recreational diver’s watches.

The Time Locker diving watches are available in a white or black dial. The large and hand-applied numerals and indexes are inspired by the dial designs of vintage military dive watches. The hands, indexes and numerals are applied with three layers of Swiss Super LumiNova C3. With its powerful and long lasting glow, this high grade luminous paint ensures legibility during dark conditions.

To power these timepieces, the brand has chosen the NH35A automatic movement, a highly precise and reliable caliber manufactured by the Japanese watch making giant, Seiko. This 24 jewels self-winding movement drives time display with three central hands plus a date window at 4.30’o clock.

Each timepiece includes a leather and NATO strap, with an optional addition of silicone. The beautiful, Italian vegetable tanned leather strap with textures and style matches with vintage flair of the timepieces.

Although the TONGA, KOURILES and KERMADEC models feature almost same design aesthetics and technical specifications, they can be distinguished by differences in the design of the dial.

The brand also ensured to match the colour of NATO strap to the colour of seconds hand. All light dial designs come with a blue-black NATO strap and blue seconds hand. All dark dial designs come with a yellow-black NATO strap and yellow seconds hand.

On 23 October this year , Time Locker launched a Kickstarter crowd finding campaign to raise funds for this collection. During this campaign the brand is offering a unique opportunity for backers to acquire the timepieces of their choice in a discounted price range starting from 249 Euros.
