Monsieur Watches – Ranomo Vintage Chronograph: Panda & Reverse Panda Limited Editions

Young watch brand Monsieur presents their latest timepiece, the Ranomo Vintage Chronograph. To be launched via an online crowd funding campaign, this collection will offer 2 models – a quartz chronograph (starting at US$199) and a mechanical chronograph (starting at US$369).

Led by Singapore based entrepreneurs Calvin Kang and Seamus See, Monsieur kickstarted their 1st edition back in 2017 with a successful campaign (Monsieur ALLIAGE Series). This year, they will be launching a 2nd campaign on Kickstarter with the Monsieur RANOMO Series. The new watch collection takes inspiration from the designs of 1970s.

To give a unique touch to the vintage series, the dial has a unique panda and reverse panda (contrasting tones) to emulate the likes of the Rolex Daytona/ Zenith El Primero. Housed in a 38mm stainless steel case protected by a K1 sapphire-coated domed glass, the Ranomo series is paired with a 20mm rally strap that fits perfectly for any occasion.

With the contrasting dial and numerical even numbers etched, it carries elements from their previous series to gives a modern take to a vintage design. The dial is rich and full in detail yet symmetrical and easy to read.

Deciding on a racing vintage series with the panda and reverse panda dial was necessary as it brings out a distinct divergence of class, versatility and style.

Monsieur Watches will launch the Ranomo series on the popular crowd funding site, Kickstarter on 1st July 2019 for a 30 day campaign until 31 July 2019 and is looking to raise S$20,000 Singapore Dollars (Approx $15,000 USD). Perks include special price promotions for the “Super Early Birds” & cross packages. Kickstarter backers will also receive FREE INTERNATIONAL shipping worldwide with a 1 year warranty on the movements.

  1. I appreciate the review, I read it before I purchased a mechanical Ranomo! It is an attractive watch, but if you’re thinking about buying one while reading this article, DON’T. After a couple weeks of normal wear two hands fell off my Ranomo and Monsieur refused to repair or refund the watch because it wasn’t a “movement problem”.

If, like me, you’re thinking the watch might be worth it just for the looks, it’s not. A watch with no hands is worthless.
