Swiss luxury watch brand Longines has appointed the German dressage champion Sönke Rothenberger as an Ambassador of Elegance. At the age of just 24, Sönke has already had a career that many twice his age can only dream of. Through the graceful elegance of his discipline, he epitomises the values embodied by the brand’s slogan “Elegance is an Attitude”.
Swiss watch brand Longines, whose passion for equestrian sports dates back more than a century and a half, is delighted to announce that the talented dressage rider Sönke Rothenberger has become its latest Ambassador of Elegance.
As part of the work undertaken by the brand to support the talented athletes of tomorrow, Longines awarded Sönke Rothenberger the 2016 Longines Rising Star prize during the FEI Awards ceremony, in recognition of his remarkable talent and his extraordinary commitment to equestrian sport.
Dressage as a discipline, in which Sönke excels, is the perfect embodiment of the values of elegance promoted by Longines in its slogan “Elegance is an Attitude”. The harmony of the movements, the completely symbiotic relationship between athlete and horse and their respect for one another are the ultimate expression of elegance.
Longines’ passion for the world of equestrian sport dates back to 1869, when the brand first produced a pocket watch bearing a horse’s head. In 1912, it then became involved with an international show-jumping competition in Portugal and almost a century later, in 2013, it became the Fédération Equestre Internationale’s Top Partner and Official Timekeeper. Today, Longines’ commitment to equestrian sports includes show jumping, dressage, combined driving, endurance racing and eventing, as well as horse-racing events.
