Swiss watch brand DELMA celebrates its 95th anniversary and 50 years since the release of its first divers’ watch with the launch of the Blue Shark III, water resistant to 4000 meters.
Founded in Lengnau (Biel) in 1924, DELMA is a Swiss, independent family-owned watch brand specializing in the design and manufacture of sport watches.
In 1969, DELMA launched its first divers’ watch which prompted to the development of a range of marine watches. In 2011, DELMA joined the elite circle of brands with a watch capable of descending to 3000 meters with the launch of the Blue Shark I. Equipped with a helium valve, a unidirectional bezel, luminescent numbers and indexes, the Blue Shark established itself as one of the most robust and reliable in its category.
Launched in 2016, the Blue Shark II solidified DELMA’s position among divers’ watch experts. The notches of the unidirectional bezel are modified to offer better grip when handling, even with gloves.
This year, to celebrate its 95th year and 50 years of marine watches, DELMA pushes limits to the extreme with the 3rd generation of the Blue Shark, an ultra-resistant divers’ watch which can reach the mystifying depth of 4000m. Marking a first in the history of the brand, the Blue Shark III will be released in Basel this spring.
Watches adapted to the practice of scuba diving as a sport of leisure appeared in the 60s and has grown in popularity ever since. To date, only a few professional models are actually designed for deep-sea exploration. Among them, the Delma Blue shark collection stands out as a reference in the category.
The Blue Shark III, which will be officially presented in Basel this March, is a model of exceptional robustness with water resistance to 4000 meters.
This professional grade diving watch boasts a clearly legible dial, unidirectional bezel that utilizes key indicators for managing dive timings, luminescent numbers and indexes for perfect readability in the dark, an automatic movement with a 38 hours power reserve and a helium valve that gradually releases the trapped gas while preserving the water tightness of the watch as much as the safety of the diver.
