anOrdain Model 1
Founded by industrial designer Lewis Heath, anOrdain is a small watch company based in Glasgow, UK.
The anOrdain team consists of two jewellery designers, a typographer, a graphic designer, a watchmaker and a product designer. The company has a maximum production capacity of 380 watches per year. Their first watch, the Model 1, is a three hands time-only piece with a 38mm stainless steel case and a distinctive enamel dial.
Adam Henderson, anOrdain’s Silversmith, makes all of the Model 1 enamel dials by hand. Drawing inspiration from a collection of historic Ordnance Survey maps of the Loch anOrdain area, the typographer, Imogen, began to develop a series of typefaces.
Through this process, angles and shapes for watch cases, hands and indexes began to emerge. Assembly and servicing of all Model 1 watches is carried out in-house by Toby Barret, an experienced watchmaker.
anOrdain’s first watch, the Model 1 is presented in a 38mm steel case. The hands have been designed as extensions of the alphanumeric type on the dial, which is also referenced in the sharp angles on the inside of the lugs. The brand has recently displayed their watches at the SalonQP luxury watch exhibition in London.
These anOrdain watches are equipped with the Sellita SW200-1 swiss made self-winding movement. Model 1 is available in translucent blue, burgundy, iron cream, pink or black enamel, and can be purchased through anOrdain’s website from £1,050.
