LAINE GG
Founded by watchmaker Torsti Laine, the Le Locle based Swiss watch brand Laine updates its line of fine mechanical timepieces by introducing a new creation named Laine GG, which adds classic art of guilloche to the possibilities of dial options offered by the brand.
GG stands for Gelidus/Guilloche. Guilloche pattern in done by hand with old engine turning machine by a specialist artisan, while all parts and assembly of dial is done in-house.
Light dances on the brilliant moiré pattern in fascinating ways, while applied indexes and long steel hands ensures clarity.
Often guilloche dial surface is matted by bleaching the silver dial or silver brushing the brass dial. Untreated guilloche has unique shine to it, and after hearing about guilloche makers complaints about ‘dulling’ the cuts Laine decided to utilize this technique in its purest form – with dark colors on dials that would balance the increased shine. End result is stronger visual effect from pattern but still offers excellent readability of time.
The new watch houses the same mechanical manual wound movement as in original Gelidus – with a twist – now both hardened steel bridges are painstakingly mirror polished. In addition, screw and jewel sinks and bridge chamfers have been polished by hand. Black polish on screw heads.
The watch comes dressed in a stainless steel case measuring 40.5mm diameter. Uniquely to this model, case sides are sculpted to an organic form and polished.
Each watch comes with a handcrafted alligator strap.
