Excellence and innovation in the art of time measurement, both technological and stylistic, are fundamental principles rooted in the DNA of CYRUS, whose philosophy is to pursue the “Conquest of Innovation”.

The brand, founded in 2010 and owned by a wealthy Swiss family with a passion for high end mechanical watches, is part of the CYRUS Watches Group, as is CHRONODE, which is its internal Manufacture located in Le Locle (Switzerland). Chronode also collaborates with other watch brands. The movements made for CYRUS remain exclusive.

CYRUS is one of the rare independent Swiss fine watchmaking manufactures which, thanks to its know-how and productive autonomy, can express the maximum creative freedom in the realisation of its watches, from planning to design, prototyping, production of calibres, decoration, testing and final assembly.

Co-founded by Julien and Laurent Lecamp, the brand introduced its first two watch collections KUROS and KLEPCYS, at Geneva Time Exhibition in 2011.

From the start, the Maison has worked with the aim of positioning itself in the watchmaking panorama as an exclusive brand in the technological vanguard, featuring a strong, uncompromising identity regarding the excellence of its quality, in keeping with a centuries-long tradition. Respect for this illustrious past is a constant driver of CYRUS’s future.

CYRUS owes its name to Cyrus the Great, the famous Persian king who lived in the 6th century B.C. During the reign of Cyrus the Great, a coin was minted with the images of the lion and the bull. The original of one of these coins, dating back to 2500 years ago, is jealously guarded by the CYRUS ownership and we find the same symbols on some of the precious timepieces produced.

Leading the brand are two personalities, perfectly complementary, with long and highly qualified experience in the sector.

JEAN-FRANÇOIS MOJON, a famous master watchmaker, honoured – in 2010 – at the Grand Prix de la Haute Horlogerie of Geneva as the best independent watchmaker – heads the Manufacture, of which he is founder and co-owner. His passion for making avant-garde mechanical watches and his enthusiasm for this work have made him the creator of calibres with a new concept that animate models like the Klepcys Moon, with patented aligned reading of the time and an original retrograde date display, or the new Klepcys Vertical Tourbillon, which has this sophisticated complication positioned on a vertical axis, inclined 90°, at the centre of the dial.

WALTER RIBAGA, appointed General Manager of Cyrus in 2017, boasts a lofty professional curriculum. In over 35 years of activity for prestigious brands in the sector, he has matured deep experience in the management of all the aspects of watchmaking, which ranges for production, to supply , international distribution, sales, marketing, administration and after-sales service. His great abilities in mastering the various skills required in this sector have brought a burst of optimism and dynamism, factors that have contributed to increasing CYRUS’s renown among watch buffs and collectors.

CYRUS is synonymous with contemporary, unique, exclusive watchmaking outside the traditional schemes. Few years have passed since its founding, but the highly qualified skills of its team will continue to follow the path of excellence in order to satisfy the requests of the most demanding lovers of high-end watchmaking.

The brand produces approximately 600 pieces per year and is distributed in selected points of sale in Europe (Great Britain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Poland and Malta), the Middle East , Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan), North America (USA and Mexico).

Historical importance of CYRUS brand Name
The name of the brand should reflect its values. The choice of name may often be difficult – unless the choice is evident in itself. As a name and personality, CYRUS matches the philosophy of the homonymous company perfectly.

CYRUS’s (or more accurately, CYRUS THE GREAT’s) talents did not include those which would designate him for the watch-making trade. Nevertheless, he became one of the key historic figures who inspired entire nations and altered their destinies – a harbinger of historic change from over 2,500 years ago. Historians describe CYRUS as a powerful, gifted, open-minded, and noble warrior. While respecting religious pluralism, he liberated conquered nations and treated his enemies as his friends. He embodied values which are scarce nowadays. Some consider CYRUS to be the precursor of the founders of human rights.

The famous Cyrus Cylinder is considered the first charter on human rights. In 1971, it was translated by the UN into all official languages. With this charter, Cyrus wished to extend his empire, institute religious tolerance, abolish slavery, and provide a free choice of profession. All of the events mentioned above occurred over 2,500 years ago.

Laurent and Julien have chosen the name CYRUS without hesitation due to the perfect harmony of his triumphant spirit and respect for human values with the spirit of their newly-founded trademark. Upon the first glance of a CYRUS watch you will notice the new and triumphant design that makes them unique and recognizable at first sight. Due to the extraordinary quality of their mechanisms, the watches, especially those of the KLEPCYS collection (a tribute to BABYLON, the scientific and intellectual centre, which was conquered by CYRUS), have been awarded two unique global patents.

A reminder of the CYRUS era: all precious metal watch collections are available in an 18-carat red gold medallion. It represents a replica of an antique coin now owned by CYRUS. The coin was fashioned in the kingdom of Lydia. Lydia was ruled by a rich king, Croesus, who CYRUS defeated. Later, Croesus became his advisor and faithful friend. Initially, the coin was made from alluvial golden sand deposited by the river Pactolus which flows through the territory once ruled by King Croesus.

The Logo
The logo is the result of long and careful deliberation. The trademark logo reflects its energy and inspiration. The impression of roundness and perfection is reflected in the logo – in its graphic design and font type. The roundness which leaves nothing to chance is reflected by the watch cases, designed in accordance with the trademark’s principles. A similar inspiration can also be found in the company’s visual message (a sphere in the centre) and the store product display (a three-dimensional sphere is the centre of the display).

The three parts (circular sectors) are in perpetual motion. Their tops are open so that the energy can pass through them all the way to the core – the heart of the trademark. In it, all the energy of the trademark is concentrated. Three (rounded) sectors in perpetual motion represent the three main collections which comprise the trademark.

The name CYRUS is written in a special font in perfect synergy with the three-sector circle. The three parts may also be recognized visually in the name; the letters CY represent the first element in the form of a semicircle, the middle letter R creates balance, and the letters US conclude the word and mirror the first semicircular element. The name also forms a complete circle which symbolizes the energetic integrity.

And lastly, the final detail: the name “Geneva” denotes the company’s headquarters. They are located in one of the best known Swiss cantons, alongside the headquarters of numerous other watch-making companies.
