Canada based micro-watch brand Helgray has launched an online Kickstarter campaign to fund the mass production of their latest timepiece, Bomber. The project has already attracted funding above US$ 306,400 from more than 1200 backers, and as of now one more week is remaining to finish the campaign.
This is the 5th watch project by Helgray after successful introductions of watch collections such as WWI-Series (Spring 2014), Silverstone (Winter 2014-15), Hornet (2016) and Le Mans (2017).
As the name suggests this new model from the popular young watch brand takes inspiration from the ferocious military bomber aircrafts and incorporates military-grade materials to ensure ruggedness and reliability.
The Helgray Bomber is available in both quartz and automatic movement editions. The watch comes dressed in a massive, solid stainless steel (316L) case measuring 45mm diameter with fixed inner bezel with 1 to 12 hour markings.
The watch features a slightly oversized crown at 4ó clock. This signature red anodized crown boasts an engraved brand logo on the top and its large dimensions ensure precise handling of the functions.
The quartz model is powered with Miyota 1L45 movement and the automatic version houses 82S5 self-winding movement, also from Miyota. The mechanical automatic movement has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
Quartz version features a solid stainless steel caseback where as automatic movement has a transparent crystal caseback. Protected with a double domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal front glass, the Helgray Bomber watch has a water resistance up to 100 meters.
The watch features a textured dial with luminous treated and hand-applied hour markers, off-centered small seconds dial and luminescent, centre hands for hour and minutes. In quartz version, the small seconds dial is positioned between 6’o clock and 8ó clock.
In automatic model, in addition to small seconds dial at 6ó clock, the dial boasts a small round opening between 7ó clock and 9ó clock showing the glimpse of mechanical movement that beats inside. These two small sub-dials form the figure of eight on the dial.
Each timepiece from this watch collection comes fitted with a matching, military (NATO) style strap made from ballistic nylon.
During the Kickstarter campaign, backers can pre-order the watch of his option with special discounted prices starting from $149 for quartz model and $229 for automatic version.
