Drawing inspiration from a watch produced in the 50s, German watch brand Hanhart is introducing a new three-hand watch in the PIONEER collection: the PIONEER One.
Since its foundation in 1882 functionality and precision play a big role for the watchmaker from the Black Forest. Over more than 135 years Hanhart has created timepieces that follow the same principles: maximum reliability, simple and secure operation, perfect legibility, and first-class precision.
The PIONEER One in satin-finished stainless steel housing revives a piece of the company history in a new design. With a diameter of 42 mm and a height of 12 mm the watch comes in a black or a white dial. Apart from the date display at 3 o’clock and the logo the dial is very clean. The fluted bezel with red index point and the calfskin strap with satined stainless steel rivets reflect typical Hanhart design features.
The historic inspiration for this watch came from Hanhart’s iconic model from the 50s, the 417 ES Flyback (Cal. 42). The Hanhart Cal. 42, a ratchet wheel calibre with flyback function and manual wind, was introduced in the 50s and was an evolution of the Cal. 40 and 41.
The design of the hands and numerals of the PIONEER One are based on this iconic model. The caliber was installed in the Hanhart Chronograph 417 and 417 ES (the stainless-steel version), which were originally produced for the Air Force of the German Federal Armed Forces.
