Back in 2016, Reykjavik based luxury watch atelier JS Watch co. created a special edition Euro MMXVI watch when Iceland qualified for UEFA Euro Cup.

Now the brand presents the World Cup MMXVIII Limited Edition, created in special celebration and cooperation with team members of the Icelandic men’s national football team who qualified for the FIFA World Cup championship for the very first time.

Limited to 300 pieces, the World Cup watch will be available for purchase starting from May 2018, the first 30 numbers for this limited edition are reserved for the National team members.

Soon after Iceland qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2018, the Captain of the Icelandic National Team Aron Gunnarsson contacted JS Watch co. and expressed the team members’ interest in creating a new watch in special celebration of this remarkable achievement.

Like the Euro MMXVI timepiece, the new model boasts national colours of the Icelandic flag with more small details paying tribute the world of soccer and the National team of Iceland.

Paying tribute to the country, the watch dial boasts small details like “Fyrir Ísland” (at  6ó clock) translated “For Iceland” which is also written inside the small neck label on all the shirts of the team members, you will also find numbers from 1 – 11 in silver for the players on the pitch and the 12 in red for the twelfth player dedicated to the undying support of the Icelandic fans who have been given the collective title “Tólfan” (“The Twelve”), as they are considered to be the twelfth player.

The minutes in blue are from 0 to 45 to representing the Game Time and the 45 to 60 minutes in red marked as Half Time instead of 50 and 55 minutes.

The blue second hand reminds us the shape of a Viking spear. The World Cup MMXVIII logo has a reversed R as a special memorandum for the nation hosting this edition of FIFA World Cup.

The back of the watch is engraved with JS Watch Co. Reykjavik, World Cup MMXVIII and another special detail reflecting the spirit that has built up around this unique National team “VAR ÞAÐ EKKI” a celebration chant the team whispers in the locker room after victories.

The engraved a small soccer ball on the crown is filled with ceramic blue colour. The case is individually numbered between the lugs.

Crafted from 316L stainless steel, the watch case measures 43.3mm and comes with a curved anti reflective sapphire crystal and see-through sapphire crystal back.

The galvanic silver dial features silver numerals representing the 11 players, and red 12 representing the 12th player (the fans), 45 minutes of Game Time in blue and 15 minutes of Half Time in red, date display at three o’clock and rhodium plated hands and blued second hand.

The watch houses a top grade Swiss Made mechanical automatic movement featuring 25 jewels, custom decorations, blue screws and rhodium plated finish which can be examined in detail, through a sapphire crystal case back.
