IWC Schaffhausen unveiled three limited-edition Portofino models at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) 2018 in Geneva as part of the Jubilee collection to celebrate the company’s 150th anniversary.
The Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase comes in gold and stainless steel with a white or blue lacquered dial. The Portofino Chronograph and the Portofino Automatic are also available in the distinctive anniversary design. These models boast dials produced using a complex lacquering process in white or blue.
IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase Edition “150 Years”
The Portofino Hand-Wound Moon Phase Edition “150 Years” (Ref. 5164) combines a classic Portofino Hound-Wound Eight Days with a moon phase display.
A total of 150 watches are available in red gold and 350 in stainless steel:
– 18-carat red gold, blue dial with lacquered finish, gold-plated hands (Ref. IW516407)
– Stainless steel, blue dial with lacquered finish, rhodium-plated hands (Ref. IW516405)
– Stainless steel, white dial with lacquered finish, blued hands (Ref. IW516406)
The first version is the only gold watch in the Jubilee collection with a blue dial. The hands, as well as the moon and stars in the moon phase display, have been gold-plated to match. The moon and stars are rhodium-plated on the models with a stainless steel case.
With the IWC-manufactured 59800 calibre, a moon phase module has been added to the 59000-calibre family that will deviate from the actual cycle of the moon by just 1 day after 122 years.
