Less than six months after its official launch of Singer Reimagined luxury watch brand, their first creation, Singer Track1, was awarded both the ‘Watch of the Year’ and ‘Innovation in Watchmaking’ prizes at the WOTY awards in Poland.
Track1 was also selected among the finalists in the chronograph category at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2017, the leading award of the Swiss watch industry.
Following the Geneva launch event in June 2017, Singer Reimagined presented Track1 at the famous Monterey Car Week in California and then at the Dubai Watch Week, one of the largest events for the international watch community, where the brand’s exclusive launch model captured the full attention of the public and professionals.
Track1 is a radical re-engineering of the chronograph. Its sleek lines frame a highly innovative and complex design with an unprecedented display made possible by a revolutionary movement, the Agengraphe.
Ten years in the making, this groundbreaking automatic calibre goes beyond the limitations imposed by preceding mechanisms, enabling a centralized indication of the chronograph functions, thus enabling a radical focus on legibility and performance. The time of day is presented in striking relief around the periphery of the dial by the small pointer at 6 o’clock, floating just above 2 rotating discs.
To further establish its presence in the market, Singer Reimagined will unveil its innovative new distribution strategy during the Geneva watch week in January. This strategy will involve working in close collaboration with local partners, including the physical presence of the brand at product launches around the world.
The first stop of this road show, Geneva in January 2018, is the opportunity to present the Singer Track1 Geneva Edition to partners, clients and to the press on the occasion of the first global watch event of the year.
The stylish yellow gold version of Singer Reimagined’s groundbreaking chronograph is released in an exclusive edition of a limited annual production with an event at Agenhor, in the very place where it is manufactured. During the event, a Porsche 911 restored by Singer Vehicle Design is showcased, underscoring the link between Singer’s extreme endeavours in both high-watchmaking and automotive worlds.
Since 2009 Singer Vehicle Design has lovingly restored air-cooled Porsche 911s, with obsessive attention to detail, as bespoke customer commissions for a global clientele.
The mantra for each restoration has been Everything is Important – a philosophy shared by sister brand Singer Reimagined. The cars are presented at the world’s finest concours events and have been described as “The perfect distilled essence of the world’s most important sports car.”
Singer Reimagined and Singer Vehicle Design represent the shared Singer universe, where every detail is worthy of careful consideration in search of a brush with perfection.
For the second edition of its revolutionary chronograph, Singer Reimagined has selected a luscious yellow gold case, a nod to iconic watches from the past. The metal is showcased in a rare light yellow shade (1N) subtly fnished with alternating brushed and polished surfaces.
The design cues clearly hark from a golden age, namely the 1970s. Though linked to this classical DNA, the Track1 Geneva Edition nonetheless represents the bleeding edge of high-watchmaking design with its radical movement and presentation of the chronograph and time display.
The Singer Track1 is designed to simplify and highlight the chronograph indication as much as possible. Design follows function. Singer Reimagined’s watches are complicated but their complexity is hidden within (although still visible through the sapphire case back.) This allows you to enjoy and use the watch for the purpose it has been conceived for, in a very pure and elegant way.
At the watch’s heart, the Agengraphe movement redefines chronograph functionality. This groundbreaking automatic movement challenges principles that have remained unchanged for decades. The centralized indication of the chronograph functions enables a radical focus on legibility and performance – as befits a truly sporting chronograph.
The Track1 – Geneva Edition is presented in contrasting black and gold, a stylish, luxurious colour combination. The only exceptions are the orange hands for optimal legibility, both for the chronograph and time indications.
The chronograph centre dial/counter has a new layout compared to the Track1 Launch Edition. Its pure design has been made even more minimal, creating a radical focus on functionality. The chronograph indications and chapter ring have been moved to the outer part the dial, leaving the central area free to give more importance to the Singer logo.
The script ‘Automatic Chronograph Track1’ is now centred in the lower section of the dial, a subtle reminder that, although the oscillating weight is not visible, the Track1 features an automatic movement. Time of the day is displayed in the very unique Singer Reimagined style.
A static orange index at 6 o’clock points at the precise indication of time, being superimposed over two matte black ceramic turning discs with luminescent golden numerals: the inner disk for the minutes and the outer disk for the hours. A delicate golden line runs horizontally through the dial as a final vintage note.
43 mm in diameter, the dynamic barrel-shaped case features an ergonomic shape emphasized by alternate sunray brushed and polished finishes, reminiscent of 1960’s and 1970’s iconic watches. The start stop pushers are located on either side of the case for enhanced operations.
The crown is seamlessly integrated into the base band. The Singer Track1 – Geneva Edition is worn with a soft khaki calf leather strap with screw down rivets matching the colour of the case. For enhanced comfort and security, the Singer Track1 Geneva Edition is equipped with a new dedicated gold folding buckle emblazoned with the brand’s logo integrated into the spring mechanism.
The AgenGraphe, the calibre powering the Singer Track1, stands apart from all previous chronograph movements. The result of a decade of development, this groundbreaking piece of mechanical ingenuity completely redefines fundamental principles that have remained unchanged for decades.
The underlying idea that led to the invention of the AgenGraphe was to enhance the legibility of the chronograph – which is usually poor with the use of small counters spread out across the dial. Thanks to a radically new architecture, the AgenGraphe brings together all the chronograph functions in the centre of the watch, allowing for an easy and intuitive reading of elapsed time.
To further enhance legibility, the chronograph incorporates jumping minute and hour indicators. To connect the chronograph mechanism to the timekeeping gear train, the Agengraphe features an innovative clutch mechanism.
The coupling is made horizontally which requires less space, yet it is made using friction, just like a vertical clutch. The dial-side rotor (made possible because the hands are on a central axis) leaves an unimpeded view of the movement and its 477 meticulously hand-finished parts.
Singer Reimagined’s straps are manufactured with the same care and attention that Singer Vehicle Design lavishes on the interiors of their clients’ cars. With their distinctive square tip, the straps are crafted from rare and fine quality leathers by expert artisans in Geneva.
Each strap is handmade, hand-stitched and the brand signature is subtly hot-stamped on the inner lining. The natural beauty of the leathers is enhanced by a soft padding and meticulously brushed rivets, made in two parts and screwed together.
Singer Reimagined offers a rich choice of custom-made straps upon request. These can be personalized to fit the style of each client. A quick release spring bar system makes it easy to change the watch band.
