Emile Chouriet Ice Cliff New Dial Versions

It’s been a year since the first model in the Ice Cliff collection’s success and Emile Chouriet has again looked to the Alpine peaks to unveil two new timepieces with dials as edgy as a mountain.

The natural environment is the main source of inspiration that fuels the Genevan watchmaker. The studio next to the Jura and facing the Alps has staggering views of the snow-capped mountains.

Adventure awaits up there, lost in the heart of the rocky, stark and wild backdrop that is sometimes home to mountain lakes whose water is as blue as the ocean. The same sense of dizzying height exudes from the two Ice Cliff dials.

The brown one is reminiscent of the warm and smooth look of mountain rocks when kissed by the autumn sun whilst the other brings to mind the velvety waters that sometimes nestle between peaks.

The dial is serrated like the cogs on a watch movement and provides a graphic 3D perspective. Everything here tricks the eye to rock your world and lose your bearings. It’s all about altitude and movement: the dial’s craggy design whose peaks stand clockwise opposite the edgy peaks that lie anti-clockwise on the chapter ring.

The feeling of elation is heightened by the dauphine-shape hands whose three sections have three different finishes (sandblasted, polished, luminescent).

Like an expanse of land or water, the Ice Cliff dial has an hour rim whose seemingly snow-capped markers and Roman numerals glow in the dark and the date display lies at 3. The EC9316 calibre in the heart of the 40mm steel case brings to life the time and date functions.
