After Chronograph, Dual-Time and World-Time versions, Seiko expands its Astron GPS watch collection by presenting a Big-Date model. The new Seiko Astron 8X42 brings to four the number of active GPS Solar calibers in the Astron range. This new series will be released in September 2017.
Like all Astron GPS Solar calibers, 8X42 offers the remarkable ability to adjust to local time, anywhere in the world, at the touch of a button. Thanks to its state of the art solar charging technology, it needs just the power of light to carry out a multitude of functions.
This new model features a big date window at 12 o’clock, a dual-time sub-dial at the six o’clock position and new, slimmer hands. Moreover, Seiko is now offering watches with roman numerals for the first time in any Astron design.
With more components having mirror finished surfaces, the Seiko Astron 8X42 GPS Solar Big-Date is also ideal to wear as a dress watch.
The Astron GPS Solar Big-Date 8X42 range comprises four models in stainless steel and three in titanium. All of them offer comes with a remarkable level of scratch resistance thanks to their ceramic bezels, sapphire crystals and the super-hard coatings.
Stainless steel versions (SSE147J1, SSE149J1, SSE151J1 and SSE153J1) feature 45.5mm cases. In comparison, titanium variants (SSE137J1, SSE139J1 and SSE141J1) come with 44.8mm diameter cases.
The case thickness remains same (13.0mm) for steel and titanium models, but the shapes of push-buttons and crown-protection are different. Water-resistant to 100 meters (10 atm), these watches come with matching metal bracelets or silicone straps.
The Caliber 8X42 also offers perpetual calendar, world time (39 time zones), and Daylight Saving Time functions.
