When Harry Winston founded his namesake business in 1932, his dazzling creations shifted the high jewelry spotlight from Paris to New York, establishing the House as a symbol of American glamour. New York City, with its majestic skyscrapers, bright lights and vibrant spirit was a source of constant inspiration in Harry Winston’s life and the Avenue Collection, with its prominent Art Deco styling, pays tribute to his lifelong affair with the city.
Bringing a touch of the heavens to earth, the moon transitions from new moon to full moon against a midnight blue sky. In order to incorporate a complication of this nature into such a tiny area, Harry Winston’s superior Swiss watchmakers kept the size and height of the movement to a minimum, so as to not disturb the lean, elegant profile of the case. As one of the smallest movements with a moon phase complication on the market today, the Avenue C™ Mini Moon Phase is at once feminine and unique.
Named after New York’s Fifth Avenue – the most prestigious shopping address in the world and home to Harry Winston’s New York Flagship Salon – the Avenue Collection recalls the streamlined design of the Art Deco period. The elongated 18-karat white gold rectangular case is set with 47 brilliant-cut diamonds, which twinkle like the lights of a miniature skyscraper at night. Gently cambered to sit perfectly on the wrist, the case is embellished with a truncated diamond on its crown. At either end of the case are the iconic arches of the Avenue Collection, diminutive recreations of the grand arched doorway that leads into the Fifth Avenue Flagship salon, a gateway to the glamorous world of Harry Winston.
Set against a white mother-of-pearl canvas, the vintage typography used for the numerals and the minute track perfectly complements the Art Deco mood of the timepiece. The minute track is shaped in honor of Mr. Winston’s preferred diamond cut, the emerald-cut, the same shape that houses the hand-applied 18-karat gold Harry Winston logo placed at 12 o’clock. Inside the minute track, a series of engraved floral motifs emanate from the center of the dial revealing a small, crescent-shaped aperture for the moon phase complication.
Available in 18-karat white and rose gold models, the Avenue C™ Mini Moon Phase is presented on a seamless alligator leather strap, with a lustrous pearl finish. The new 18-karat gold ardillon buckle on both models is set with six brilliant-cut diamonds and features an 18-karat gold folding clasp that adapts perfectly to the wrist for added comfort and security.
