From the roaring 1920s to the post-war years, the form and designs of watches changed dramatically. Strongly influenced by the dominant artistic styles, the timepieces became more colourful, the materials richer, the style more extravagant, more fashionable. However, not only watches changed: the vibrant art movements also influenced advertising. DOXA’s billboards reflect the Art Deco style. G. Ducommun, founder of DOXA, developed strong, specific advertising for his products.
Even after the death of G. Ducommun in 1936, DOXA continued creating models influenced by the predominant artistic ideas. This great strategy allowed DOXA a very successful start into the second half of the century.
In 1939, DOXA designed the lady bangle watch for the successful and elegant lady. Using high quality materials in fanciful perfection, this adornment underlined the uniqueness of its wearer.
DOXA paid close attention to the ornaments seen on the watch of 1939 and re-construed them as well above and below the dial. The relaunch of DOXA’s celebrated bangle watch even sports the special polished section on the crystal. The mother-of-pearl coat on the dial gives the watch the sophisticated appearance it deserves. A Swiss quartz movement in the heart guarantees accuracy.
