Fears Watch Company Launches Made-To-Order Strap and Bespoke Engraving Service

On the 5th April this year, at “Details of a Gentleman” the men’s style showcase in London, the Fears Watch Company Limited launched Fears Custom.

Beginning five months since Fears was re-established, this new premium service will offer customers the opportunity to commission made-to-order straps and bespoke engraving on the Redcliff watch.

Fears Custom allows a Fears watch to be combined with a special strap made from a rainbow of exotic skins. With nearly 80,000 possible colour combinations, each Fears Custom strap is made to order, making them unique to the owner.

The strap can be specified with the owner’s initials blind stamped on the lining, making it truly personal. Handmade in the same Belgium atelier where the current range of Fears goat’s leather straps are produced, the straps keep the same elegant profile and easy-release spring bars.

Fears Custom engraving offers the watch’s owner to re-create a crest, motto or special date on the case back. Going beyond the popular Fears Engraving service, which offers 2-4 initials, Fears Custom engraving employs the complete skill of the same master hand engraver in Mayfair, London. This allows the blank section on the watch’s case back to effectively become a blank canvas.

With over 60 colours and three outer materials to choose from including Lizard, Ostrich and Alligator, plus a choice of 30 lining colours in both Calf and Alligator, the options are almost countless. The final detail of the stitching can be used to contrast or coordinate with the outer material. Each unique strap is completed with an exclusive Fears Custom buckle.

The process of creating a made-to-order strap and bespoke engraving starts with an email or letter. Once the initial request is made, a video call or meeting in London is arranged, which allows the client to see and handle samples showing the extent of what can be made.

Fears Custom engraving starts with a computer drawn design of what the client is imagining, which is then put on a ‘digital’ case back. Once this is approved, the watch is hand engraved and delivered in special all-black packaging.

Available on brand new Fears watches or those already being worn, Fears Custom appointments are available from 20th April. Further information about the service, images of what can be created and the option to request a booklet can be found at http://www.fearswatches.com/fearscustom.

Pricing starts at £150 for made-to-order straps and £100 for engraving.
