TAG Heuer is launching its famous Manufacture Chrono Tourbillon with a bezel set with 68 baguette diamonds.
In 2016, exactly 710 Heuer-02T Tourbillon movements were certified by the independent testing body, Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC).
In 2017, one year after the launch of its famed Heuer-02T Manufacture Chrono Tourbillon at BaselWorld, TAG Heuer is unveiling a glamorous new deluxe version, with 68 sparkling baguette diamonds set into the bezel. This dazzling take on mechanical watchmaking strikes a perfect balance between the worlds of luxury jewellery and horology.
Synonymous with technology, the highest quality and performance, manufacture expertise, and perfect mastery of industrial processes and manufacturing costs, this version of the Carrera Heuer-02T is made from grade 5 titanium, a modern material which is lighter than steel.
The complex mechanical watch movement beats inside this timepiece was developed directly from the DNA of the CH-80 chronograph, used as a basis to interpret two of traditional watchmaking’s most famous complications: the chronograph and the tourbillon.
At 4 Hz, and 28,800 vibrations/hour, the main technical challenge was to house a single barrel, the chronograph functions, the automatic winding mechanism and the flying tourbillon within a diameter of 32 mm, whilst ensuring the counters were well spaced to give it a modern, balanced look.
It houses a hand-crafted lightweight tourbillon, inspired by the Monaco V4’s tourbillon, which has central sections made from titanium and a carbon top section. This tourbillon offers a power reserve in excess of 65 hours. All the fitting, assembly and adjustment work is performed by hand. The main components are manufactured in the workshops of the TAG Heuer Manufacture. At the heart of the tourbillon, the balance spring is produced by the brand’s Swiss partner, Atokalpa.
Certified by Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC), this complex watch movement is housed in a new generation case, which boasts a different kind of construction, created from 12 modular elements. This design opens up a huge range of possibilities, with an infinite combination of materials, colours, treatments and finishes.
The 2017 model is also available with a black ceramic case and black ceramic bezel. It comes with a choice of a black alligator or full-grain calfskin leather strap, or a black ceramic strap.
This new model is perfectly in line with the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T philosophy, available at a price which is still highly competitive for a manufacture-made chrono tourbillon movement.
