Rado True N25E121 Limited Edition

Swiss watchmaker Rado has unveiled a limited edition timepiece to celebrate its partnership with World Design Capital® Taipei 2016: the Rado True N25E121, created in collaboration with Taiwanese graphic designer Aaron Nieh. This is the second exclusive timepiece launched by the brand in honour of its partnership with the global biennial design event.

The Rado True N25E121 is a matt grey high-tech ceramic timepiece inspired by simplicity and versatility. With its clean, open dial, monochrome hands and indexes, and matching monochrome NATO strap, it is a design clearly informed by lightness and minimalism – the hallmarks of Rado’s latest collection.

The exclusive timepiece is crafted from high-tech ceramic, a material which is valued among high-end watchmakers for its exceptional hardness and lightness. Nieh specifically selected grey-coloured high-tech ceramic to create a subtle, balanced aesthetic and opted for a coarse, tweed-like NATO strap to increase the casual look of the timepiece. The engraved caseback features Aaron Nieh’s signature and is limited to just 146 pieces – which, like the name, is a reference to the geographical coordinates of Taipei, 25° N, 121° E.

Nieh is one of two Taiwanese designers invited by Rado to collaborate on a special edition of the Rado True, following Leslie Chan’s texturized, origami-inspired dial for a white version of the True that was revealed earlier this year. Other notable collaborations include teaming up with Konstantin Grcic for the redesign of the iconic Rado Ceramica, also launched this year.

Aaron Nieh is a graduate of the Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He has brought novel imagination and shaped a new landscape in the Mandarin pop music industry, as well as in publishing and performing arts. He has been an Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) member since 2012 and currently runs his own design company, Aaron Nieh Workshop.
