Personalising their very own Reverso is a unique way for owners to adopt their watch. In 2016, Jaeger-LeCoultre showcases a new vision of the Reverso with the Atelier Reverso, allowing to turn every Reverso into a personal creation.
Available in Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutiques exclusively, the Swiss watch manufacture gives the chance to choose different techniques and means to personalize the Reverso watch, by selecting the material and hue of the strap, the design of the engraving on the back face and now the color and finishing of the back dial for Duetto and Duoface models.
For the 85th birthday of its icon model, Jaeger-LeCoultre has invited polo ambassador Clare Milford Haven, with whom it has been cultivating close ties since 2004, to imagine a model attuned to her tastes.
The renowned polo player has chosen as a timekeeping companion the JLC Reverso Classic Duetto Medium in pink gold which – above and beyond its Art Deco inspiration – features a second face on the back in the shape of a dial providing space for personalisation.

Graced with two dials and a double set of hands driven by a single movement, the Reverso Classic Duetto Medium appeals by its timeless elegance. This timepiece is adorned in subtle shades of blue. Even before the watch swivels, certain discreetly personalised elements are perceptible.
The crown, finely set with diamonds and a ruby – symbolising victory, charity and love – immediately draws the gaze. On the front side of this creation, the vertical brushed motif is teamed with a dainty sunburst guilloché pattern in the centre.
When a finger gently pivots the case, the watch appears in a whole new light, revealing a more sophisticated facet of its personality. At the heart of the blue dial adorned with paillons(spangles), as deep as a star-studded sky, the night blue oscillating weight can be admired in action. Two rows of diamonds magnify this face evoking the celestial vault. A journey to the heart of the stars which Clare Milford Haven, a keen nature-lover, particularly enjoys observing.
Clare wished to have the carrier of the watch engraved with her family crest, symbolised by a crown, the initials of her children’s first names, as well as two polo mallets. It thereby vividly evokes the two central elements around which her life revolves: her family and the sport to which she is passionately dedicated.
Finally, setting the perfect final touch to this highly personal model, a night blue calfskin strap is fitted with a strap reminiscent of polo players’ boots and making a perfect match with the pink gold case and the two faces of the Reverso.
Engaged in an ongoing association since 2006, Eduardo Novillo Astrada and Jaeger-LeCoultre have progressively strengthened their bonds of friendship and mutual understanding over the years. The Manufacture supports the polo player in his various tournaments around the world and has chosen him as the face of its new communication campaign titled “Open a Whole New World”.
The model created for Eduardo Novillo Astrada, a steel JLC Reverso Classic Large Duo, retraces the highlights of his sports career to date. Eduardo Novillo Astrada has always been keen to pay regular visits to the Grande Maison in the Vallée de Joux.

During these onsite experiences, he enjoys taking time to soak up the creative atmosphere pervading its workshops, to appreciate the precision and the concentration of the artisans combining various forms of expertise in transforming their horological creations into remarkable pieces of workmanship.
So as to ensure that each Reverso is a unique object, the Manufacture offers the possibility of choosing the skill and the styles that can serve to personalise it. It therefore suggested that the polo player tell his own story by reinventing his watch, the steel Reverso Classic Large Duoface.
Progressively unveiling its other aspects as the case swivels, Eduardo Novillo Astrada’s watch reveals elements one could never have suspected at first glance.
The brushed and guilloché front dial with its clear-cut lines and classic design already features subtle details that invite observers to discover the story told by the player. The burgundy-toned “La Aguada” inscription and minute track echo the colours of his team.
On the back, the reference is further accentuated with a burgundy lacquered dial that Eduardo Novillo Astrada has chosen to adorn with the letters “LA” for the team initials.
The second face of this automatic model is equipped with a dual-time indication, making the Reverso Classic Large Duoface the ideal timepiece to accompany the player in his matches around the globe.
Opening the case reveals an engraving on the cradle that sets the signature touch to this creation. Eduardo Novillo Astrada wanted to have three crowns engraved so as to represent the famous Argentine Triple Crown (Tortugas, Hurlingham and Palermo) that he won in 2003 with his brothers Ignacio, Miguel and Javier, respectively represented by the letters I, M and J. The watch crown has also been redesigned in three sections and its thickness correspondingly increased as a nod to this victory.
