The Oris Divers Sixty-Five watch is now available on a stainless steel bracelet for the first time. Bracelets have been added to the black and Deauville (two-tone grey+blue) dial versions of 40mm Divers Sixty-Five models.
The watch, which is based on a classic Oris diver’s watch introduced in 1965, was launched in 2015 on a black rubber strap. The collection was also expanded this year to include a series of pieces on NATO fabric straps.
The new brushed stainless steel bracelets are based on originals from the 1960s, but have been subtly updated to reflect contemporary tastes, and built using the latest manufacturing techniques. The bracelets have four links on either side, which are connected via round-headed pins that evoke the design of the original.
Whether on a bracelet or a NATO strap, the Oris Divers Sixty-Five collection brings the best of the old and the new. Aesthetically, it picks up from the timeless 1965 original, with its slimline bezel, bubble-curved crystal and distinctive retro Arabic numerals.
But while the look mirrors the original, in every other respect the Divers Sixty-Five is a product of its time. The original’s case was made of chromium-plated brass, but today it’s made of high grade stainless steel.
The plexiglass crystal has been upgraded to scratch-resistant sapphire, with an anti-reflective coating on the inside. Finally, the once plastic rotating bezel is now made of stainless steel with a lightweight black aluminium insert, and only rotates in an anti-clockwise direction. Inside it is a bulletproof automatic movement made according to the stringent standards of Swiss watchmaking.
The Oris Divers Sixty-Five has been a huge success since its launch last year. The new bracelet versions signal the next chapter in the watch’s story.
The stainless steel case back of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five is engraved with the historic Oris shield emblem, as seen on the 1965 original.
