Louis Erard Heritage Collection, New Models 2016

Vintage Revival

Louis Erard is making 2016 all about vintage revival, and nowhere with greater delectation than in the Héritage collection. New case, new leather strap, new dial and new hands – what was once renowned as a “classic” line reinvents itself.

Its modern, downright dandy style sticks to the codes of watchmaking but on its own terms. Handsome and rakish with carefully chosen functions, Héritage clearly aims to please.

In its simplest apparel of three hands and date, it has an air of chic congeniality. And the more functions it embraces – day and date, then chronograph – the greater its panache. Leather strap or Milanese bracelet, it refuses to compromise on style.

From silver-toned dial to hands in matching silver or contrasting gold colours, each detail is turned towards elegance and refinement. Philosophy, appearance, value, everything about these watches testifies to their completely modern character, though never straying from their vintage essence.

Less is more

Louis Erard’s new triumvirate comes in praise of Minimalism. Like their dandifed counterparts, these new creations have benefited from the Watchmaker’s full attention, redefining time in its most uncomplicated guise, without artifice or excess.

Each line, each curve, each material is there to be immediately enjoyed. Ultra-contemporary and perfectly suited to the life young creative lead, these timepieces retain nothing but the strict essentials, proving once again that “less is more“.

Louis Erard applies this principle to a three hands and date, a day-date, and a chronograph. Pure, geometric lines. Overexposed hands for heightened legibility. Verticality is the key. On the chronograph, just two counters and the date at 6 o’clock, freeing the contours of the dial from superfluous detail to focus attention on the functions.

The same is true of the day-date, also at 6 o’clock and on a perpendicular axis. Dial and case have their own identity but remain in dissociable one from the other. Leather straps or Milanese bracelets finish the whole.
